I take Mirapex and my doctor gave me a prescription for Sinemet, but I haven't taken any. I'm also on Amanadine. Why dif you ask about taking the two together?

That's okay. I was interested in the combination of drugs myself. I appreciated your question. Blessings.

I took myself off requip--so bad for me! sinemet worked fine but honeymoon is over! as predicted. I get in trouble if I try anything else.

On the other hand . . .

My doctor switched me from Bi-Sifrol to Mirapex recently since the Bi-Sifrol wears off too soon.

I take the Mirapex together with Artane.

Morning: two Mirapex, one Artane.

Evening: one Artane only

Well, I take 4-25/100 carb/lev, 3 Mirapex, and 1 amanadine a day and the combo works for me 5 years into my diagnosis. The mirapex helps with slow movement, the amanadine helps with my inner tremors, and the carb/lev helps with tremors and other symptoms. The side effects for me are holding fluid in my legs and some hair loss. But I can function ok on most days. I am considering botox injections for dystonia in my foot which isn't responding much anymore to calf stretches. Botox anyone???

I was taking Sinemet and Mirapex and gave up on the sinemet because i couldnt tolerate the smell of it.. Somehow this drug affected my sense of smell and everything i was exposed to. Coffee smelled terrible.. and even my breath had that chemical smell. One friend said he could tell if someone had pk because of the smell and im sure it was from the medication. if you look sinemet up it is called an aromatic amino acid deca... so i am only on Mirapex now and awaiting the long overdue time release version to be allowed in Canada..

That's an unusual side effect. It is very common for PD to result in a very diminished sense of smell. Quite often this is the first symptom of PD. I know I haven't been able to smell very much for quite a number of years and certainly before my PD Dx. Some smells can be detected quite strongly - e.g. wet dog. But mostly I live in a smell free world.

I didn't realize till recently that the reason for my diminished sense of smell was a PD symptom.

It took me a long time to realise that I wasn't smelling.
