Botox for neck and shoulder rigidity
Has anyone had experience with this? Diagnosis is Lewy Body D and he cannot take carbidopa/ levodopa. Exercise he can do is not enough. Very tight neck. Shoulders hurt, mainly left. Gets 5 min masage after 30 min exercise session with trainer 2 or more x week

CBD oil and more frustration
I received Provocan CBD oil with great anticipation. I weaned Dan off of his morning daily dose of Carb/ levodopa. Although we never saw much change with this med, at this small dose the neck rigidity seemed its best . (But So hard to know for sure.) For two days his legs buckled in the morning. Was

Taking EGCG, pros and cons
My husband is taking 98% MP (Levodopa) three times daily. When he is on, things are great, but when he is on and also when off... he suffers from bad and painful bloating. He takes a quite large dose of Levodopa, so we think this is what is causing it... the registrar who sees us now also suggested this

Trouble Getting a Diagnosis for Parkinson's Disease
I'm having a hard time getting diagnosed and am a single 66 yr. old female even though I have a noticeable head tremor only when at rest. What seems like hypomimia, (face doesn't respond to what I want to express, slow thinking, slurring of speech has been noticeable to other people. A swallowing

Don't want to join this group! (Ranting about diagnosis)
We saw the neuro today, at the end of a four-week levodopa trial to see if my husband has regular Parkinson's vs CBD or other atypical parkinsonism, and I was really hopeful because I could improvements in his facial expression and for the last couple days his handwriting was better. But the neuro said

Neurosurgery in Parkinson Disease: A Brief History and Look Forward
The first-line treatment for Parkinson disease (PD), levodopa paired with carbidopa, did more than revolutionize treatment for PD when it entered use in the 1960s, it also largely replaced the use of neurosurgeries, especially pallidotomy and thalamotomy, that had been used in PD care since the beginning

Back Pain associated with PD
I have recently been experiencing severe lower back pain when standing or trying to roll over in bed to get up. This seems to be worse since my neurologist increased my carbidopa levodopa to 2 pills (25-100) 4 times a day. Can this be the problem?

Restless arms
I'm on carbidopa levodopa 50 12.5. Rasagiline 1mg. I've been taking 200mg daily tramadol for back pain but tried leaving it out because of constipation. Developed severe akathesia of my arms at night. I suppose it serves me right for taking tramadol. Maybe if I stick it out I'll recover. But its also

Madopar vs Sinemet (& mucuna)
Neuro just put my husband on Madopar (one of the side effects being nausea...for some reason he didn't prescribe Sinemet) We were hoping to supplement with mucuna once his body gets used to the drug. My understanding is that mucuna needs the carbidopa in Sinemet to be able to cross the BBB. Does

Pain Poll - please help - Thanks
Could folk please post and say what diagnosis is involved with themselves or their loved one. Whether it is a clear diagnosis and to what degree pain is an issue. Also what treatment is being taken for it and finally what Parkinson's meds. are being taken if any. So a reply might be "PSP possibly CBD

Joint pain with levodopa (carbidopa-levodopa) increasing dose? Is it a side effect?
My husband is in the one-month trial of weekly increasing levodopa doses, and suddenly his knee hurts really badly. Could this be a side effect of the levodopa? He's only on the second week, the second increase of the dosage (25/100), four times a day, this week.

Prebiotics + Probiotics. Probiotic production of thiamine, riboflavin and folate. Constipation. Aspiration pneumonia & botanical oil.
Here are several different articles about prebiotic and probiotic(s) (possibly in combination with each other). And the final article relates to PwP oral infestation with gram negative bacteria and aspiration pneumonia. 1) Fenugreek as adjuvant therapy with L-dopa First of all, Fenugreek has been shown

5-HTP in patients not taking Sinemet can worsen symptoms of PD
According to The Clinician's Handbook of Natural Medicine 5-Hydroxy-l-tryptophan (5-HTP) is beneficial only if used in combination with the drug Sinemet (a combination of l-dopa and decarboxylase inhibitor carbidopa). Brain serotonin is decreased in PD, but reduction in dopamine receptors is more severe

Levadopa "challenge" for CBD/PSP/Parkinson's?
Hi all, Did your neuro do a levadopa trial at any point in diagnosis? Did it always turn out that the l-dopa did not help if it was CBD or PSP? My husband is just starting a one-month trial where he takes increasing doses of levadopa every week for a month, to help determine if he has Parkinson's or

Grinding Carbidopa hallucinations
My father along with Parkinson's has dysphasia and has trouble swallowing. He has trouble swallowing a large number of pills. With that being said, he now has trouble taking his pills and has choked several times. I decided to grind his pills including the time release Carbidopa 50/levodopa 200mg. I

Azilect
I started Azilect yesterday. One pill in the morning. Today I have been deeply asleep for an hour and a half since breakfast and am struggling to wake up. My levodopa meds have not changed. Have others experienced sleepiness as a side effect of Azilect? Did it pass? I often doze, but have not slept deeply
