You may find that supplementing magnesium would help with muscle stiffness. This can be done in several ways that don't involve tablets: long bath with 2 cups epsom salts in it a few times a week; magnesium spray; adding magnesium citrate powder to a drink (but it is bitter..). Be generous with the amount - magnesium is water soluble and unlikely to do any harm, although if we don't absorb it it can cause diarrhoea. You could try spraying magnesium directly onto the person's shoulders. It may sting a bit at first but this is usually short lived. Good Luck
Thank u! Doing further investigating last nite, I had a trusted OT tell me that Botox without Rehab after to give and extend range of motion is not really helpful. With it, however, the 2-3 months effect of Botox itself can be greatly extended. The recommendation for Botox was by the neurologist, with absolutely no mention of the therapy. I had to ask about side effects and was told it could hinder swallowing for a couple of weeks. I have so little faith in them, after this whole ordeal with this condition. It's quite despairng, to say the very least. She didn't even ask hubby to walk yesterday. It's always bad news. Yes, you have this devastating disease but we, the medical community, cannot help you.
