Encapsulated versions will be extracts with a high percentage of levodopa. The downside of this is there is a tendency to cause nausea. The unconcentrated version of Mucuna has less tendency to do this, apparently due to cofactors in the whole bean. I took a look at Amazon Canada and found the following. Have not used this version myself so cannot vouch for it:
Thank you park_bear you are always so helpful. What you said makes a lot of sense. I am still pondering the idea to use both since I feel I am a little over medicated sometimes and I am hoping taking a little less sinemet and supplementing with a little Mucuna would do the trick.
Trying an encapsulated version will not do any serious harm if that is your preference – you will find out soon enough how well you tolerate it. Also, nothing wrong with using both Sinemet and Mucuna.
My husband takes the Mucuna Extract from Double Wood through Amazon. Great price.
He takes one pill either in place of his Rytary or as an adjunct. Sometimes it takes an hour plus for his Rytary to kick in so he'll take one Mucuna to bridge the gap. 2 pills = 1000mg.
interesting, I don’t think they asked me to pay import tax, Lol, not when I order from this website. I tried ebay before, all the extra changes are huge
You can't legally buy Mucuna Prurians in Canada without a prescription. It is on a prescribed list as it actually contains an effective drug( l.Dopa). So no Canadian based vendor can sell it to you, including amazon [.]ca. You can get around this by ordering from amazon[.]com, ebay[.]com or other international vendors. The maximum that you can import is 3 months worth or 90 days supply. I like the Naturebell-Mucuna, 1500mg capsule ( 10:1)- contains 150mg of L.Dopa. I take it every 3 hours - 6am, 9am. 12pm, 3pm. Then no more until the next day. I tolerate it well, no nausea or stomach upset. You could try it every 4 hours, 3 a day at first and see how it goes.
Hi. I am from Canada. By far the best Mucuna Pruriens that I have tried is from Barlowe's Herbal Elixirs. Mucuna Pruriens (brown Indian) extract 650mg 40% L-dopa. I have ordered it from Barlowe's directly for at least 2 years - sometimes the 1pound bag as well as the bottles. However, just recently Customs Canada flagged it and returned it to sender. As mentioned in this feed, Mucuna is not supposed to be to imported into Canada, but they usually allow a couple of bottles. I have tried alternatives, as mentioned in this feed, but nothing so far has worked as good as this product. Unfortunately, Barlowe's is not available at Amazon.com. Any other suggestions?
