Kyphosis

I’ve been diagnosed with kyphosis, had the scans, tried the cortisol injection which didn’t work the consultant said that was because it is the muscles in the back that are causing the pain as they have to work hard to keep us up straight.

Last September I developed Kyphosis and I’ve recently had a DXA scan which has showed my OP has worsened and they wanted to start me on the daily injection for two years. They took blood tests at the time which showed there’s a lot of calcium in my blood which is not getting to my bones.

Does anyone else find that this is one of the worst features of vertebral fractures from OP? I do think it must add to further strain on other parts of the back etc. why I can't stand /walk for more than a few minutes at a time.? Muscle relaxants make no difference . Exercise makes pain worse. So not

I have a resulting kyphosis. This has all been a total shock and my journey familiar to others I'm sure. It would be great to share my experiences good and bad and learn from others too.

Eg - RA with secondary Sjögrens, Fibromyalgia, FND, severely degenerative disc disease with kyphosis/ rotational scoliosis, ME/CFS. I’ve just been referred again (7th time) by an Rheumatologist (my old one just left) and now I don’t think I’m physically able to do it again.

Around last September I started to develop kyphosis which is getting worse and causes a lot of pain. I'm looking to be referred to an orthopaedic consultant as I've read that medical cement can stabilise the spine and also help with the pain.

I am 62 female with severe osteoporosis scoliosis and kyphosis suffered T12 spinal fracture. After being on Alendronic Acid weekly tablet for 2 years I am now being prescribed Teriparatide.

I was so shocked to receive diagnosis by letter from Fracture Liason Service, by then I had shrunk 3 inches and my body had changed shape drastically, I think it’s called Kyphosis. I was distraught about my body shape as didn’t recognise myself any more.

I'm already struggling with kyphosis,stomach protrusion, and body image.

I'd also love to hear from anyone who has kyphosis (vertebrae squished into a wedge shape basically) and whether you've found anything to help. I'm told vertebroplasty or kyphoplasty are not options.

I have severe osteoporosis and kyphosis from breaking T10-T12 and wondered if anyone has had this? They're recommending a spinal fusion to fix this or otherwise to live in a brace forever hoping the kyphosis curve won't progress any more than it already has.

I'm stuck with kyphosis, a stoop, difficulty walking and on-going pain People including my rheumatolgist recommended the ROS and it has been a great help, I've read up so much on there, joined as a member, go to the local support groups and most of all the nurse Helpline has been incredibly helpful

My 88 year old mother has severe osteoporosis and kyphosis. She has episodes of severe back pain under her shoulders, which I am assuming is due to vertebral fractures of the spine.

As I am bent forward, cannot lay flat or sit with back to sun for more than a minute I am tanned on front white on tother side, i.e half toasted. Any tips how to get to get brown on both? Would help my skin, spots, itches, rashes and self esteem greatly! Thanks. 😎☀️

To all who have kyphosis, did your back dr tell you to do back exercises like using resistance bands to help keep the curve from getting worse? I was doing them but had to stop due to a repetitive strain injury in my wrists.

I have severe osteoporosis and severe kyphosis due to breaking T10-T12 ten yrs ago. I was in a brace for the first 8 yrs but now have not been for the last 2 years. I technically need a spinal fusion to fix my back but my bones are too osteoporotic.

My pain won’t wait, eg kyphosis, s-shaped scoliosis with rotation, hip pain. Pain from rheumatoid arthritis with secondary Sjögrens, fibromyalgia seems controlled at present but I also have ME/CFS and FND. I have read that scoliosis isn’t painful. My Mum is 97 and has it for years with no pain.

My doctor is saying that I need to get a spinal fusion because I broke T10 through T12 back in 2011 so over 12 years ago and it is caused severe phasis due to my osteoporosis and from never getting it surgically dealt with at the time. I'm working on getting my bones stronger and he saying that if I

I have severe osteoporosis and have kyphosis in my back. So I'm not supposed to lift anything that is more than 4 lb.

I've got a bit of Scoliosis/Kyphosis and the back of my neck is really curved these days, which probably doesn't help. Added to this, over the last two weeks my neck and left shoulder are crunching almost every time I move.
