Hi, I am Di, I have been professionally diagnosed with osteoporosis and just over a year ago and started Aclasta shortly afterwards.

Before seeing a Rhumatologist for my symptoms, my general doctor took it upon herself to give me Prolia for a year and then to take me off the drug with no other treatment for well over year. In that time my vertebrae continued to collapse and by the time I had made my mind up to see a Rhumatologist I had an additional spinal break with a kyphosis and excruciating pain which was immune to even OxyContin and I reverted back to paracetamol and just coped. The pain is less on Aclasta but I wish my doctor had not given me the Prolia without calcium and Vit D backup.

Your doctor ought to have given you a relay drug when he/she decided to stop your Prolia. Unfortunately if you have a look on the ROS site (and at other posts on here) you will see that rebound fractures are very likely when you stop or are even late in getting your Prolia shot as you have found out.

I know that now. Another new drug that they could not wait to give me without telling me I had the choice of seeing a Rhumatologist. I made that choice when I found I had it and got fed up with the lack of focus on actually helping me live with the osteoporosis. Rheumatologist appt just 3 month wait. Well worth it.
