Patient Experiences on DTE
This is useful narrative paper on why how and when patients prefer NDT (DTE) over other therapies. It might have been posted before, but the journal is obscure. Downloadable paper: Patient Experiences and Perceptions Associated with the Use of Desiccated Thyroid Extract

Tingling hands and wrists, fatigue, achey but also feelings my system is wound up? Is this a flare up?
I am in a complete dilemma. I am experiencing all the above symptoms and I'm not sure why it is. It could be two things, but whatever the cause, I am feeling pretty yucky, which is really annoying because I was doing quite well apart from menopausal flushing. First possible cause is that I've finished

NDT help
Hi All, I've been taking 1 3/4 grains of NDT for a few months and have felt pretty well. The only symptoms I really had were dry hands and random hot flushes (both of which could be related to something else). My most recent blood test results were: TSH 0.28 (0.27-4.2 T4 11.3 (12-22) T3 4.7 (3.1-6.8)

If you were given the choice of treatment, which would you choose?
Hello, my endocrinologist mentioned that he will consider putting me on something other than just T4 as I do not feel better. I was wondering what your experiences have been with the different treatment options: T3 only vs. T3 & T4 combined vs. NDT? I'd love to hear your opinions. The doctor mentioned

NDT - how does it affect life insurance?
So my doctors have prescribed Levothyroxine 3 years ago and after a few attempts to get along with it I simply cannot and have just sourced my own NDT like others on this forum. My doctors know I take NDT and are not happy about it so I guess it is on my records as I have been upfront with them. If I

Transitioning to ndt symptoms
I’ve just recently started Armor ndt 1/2 tablet morning and the other 1/2 on the afternoon and I’m feeling nauseous, tired and disorientated, as though I’m not fully in control is this normal

Visiting a Private GP, Practitioner or Endocrinologist
Thyroid UK has a rule of not mentioning comments about doctors that you visit on the actual community although discussion can be had via the private message system. We want to ensure that people are aware that our list of private GPs and practitioners and our list of NHS and private endocrinologists

t4/t3 combination
I am thinking of trying t3 I was on NDT for many years and it was great, had a few issues with my last batch using a different supplier and i went hypo again. Found it stressful trying to source Thyoid s so tried going back to t4. Not so good! My labs are in normal range but I feel like half a person

NDT timings
Hi everyone I’m struggling a bit with medication/supplement and food timings now I am back on thyroxine and NDT. I take thyroxine plus half grain of ERFA at 7.00 am and that’s fine, I leave an hour until breakfast. But I am supposed to take another half grain at noon and I’m struggling because I assume

Doc feedback
Good afternoon Update on my doc appointment. Who was good. She advised ideally going on T3 5mg once or twice daily. I don’t want NDT as I’m vegan. Can anyone recommend a pharmacy that’s not too expensive? Either that or increase the T4. Also mentioned treatment for hashimotos. Lot to take in.

Anyone had any success with taking levo at night?
I have just returned from my endo appointment. I am not feeling better after a dose increase despite optimum TSH levels. He says my T3 conversion is not low enough to be considered a bad converter. Therefore, he wants to first check whether taking levothyroxine at night (same dose) will help my symptoms

NDT petition
Could I draw your attention to a 38 degrees petition I just found asking NICE to license NDT for use on the NHS. It looks like its been kicking around a while, so sorry if this is old news. Anyway it looks close to target and as this is an issue that affects quite a number of us, getting one more petition

1 : 1 T3/T4 ratio
Anyone dosing in that manner? I've read some articles and abstracts and come up blank. I ask this question because I don't feel improved on NDT though sleep is a bit better when taken at night. I'm going to experiment because that's me and doctors don't know how to help me(treatment resistant bipolar

Medication help!
I have just changed over from armour NDT to tirosint and compounded t3. My t3 is in capsules so I can not split this dose twice in a day. I ended up having to take both before bed 2 hours after food. I am better taking my meds at bedtime due to side effects etc. I feel awful today after doing a straight

On NDT and my TSH in a range
I just want to ask someone if it is common for someone taking NDT to have TSH in a range? I had total thyroidectomy in 2017. I didn't feel well on Levo that's why I switched to NDT. Blood taken early in the morning , last dose of NDT 11 hours before blood test. 3 March 2022: TSH-0.48 (0.3-4.20) FT4

How can I increase my T4?
Having just discovered that there is a relationship between hypothyroidism, low T4 and kidney problems. In other words low GFR (kidney function) I'm wondering whether I should consider increasing my NDT or thyroxin or whatever I can take to increase my T4. My results most recently done in February.

Medichecks guidance on taking T3 before blood test
This what Medichecks advises when doing an advanced thyroid test: ‘If you are taking a T3 containing medication take your test in the hour prior to your dose of medication.’ Why do they advise this? From what I read on here this is not correct? I would like to know what people think as I take NDT + Levo

Best way to take Efra - NDT?
Hello lovely people Do you have some advice for me on what’s the best way to take Efra? I read in a blog that you should dissolve it under your tongue? But the official instructions say ‘swallow with water’. Thank you
