Anyone dosing in that manner? I've read some articles and abstracts and come up blank. I ask this question because I don't feel improved on NDT though sleep is a bit better when taken at night. I'm going to experiment because that's me and doctors don't know how to help me(treatment resistant bipolar & non-restorative sleep). The only 'clue' I've read is from an old article by Dr. John Dommisse, regarding keeping an adequate T4 level as one increases T3, especially if a patient has bipolar illness, as well as his criticism of Dr. Wilson's T3 protocol because of its lack of T4. In the article, he didn't specifically recommend a 1:1 ratio but I drew my own conclusion. I will start low either once or twice a day.
1 : 1 T3/T4 ratio: Anyone dosing in that manner... - Thyroid UK
1 : 1 T3/T4 ratio

NDT is from the pig and has a ratio of 4 : 1, A human has a ratio of 10 : 1 which is T4 to T3.I don't know about bipolar sorry.
As I wrote, this is me experimenting on myself. I read an in-depth analysis about the history of T4/T3 ratios on Thyroid Patients Canada. Quite complex, with contradictory research. The late Dr. Kenneth Blanchard had time release low dose capsules compounded with a ratio of 98% T4 to 2% T3. Since I can't find a doctor(or one who takes insurance) I'm left to use myself as a lab rat.
Love Dr Blanchard book. But in my case the T3 that Dr Blanchard recommends just doesn't work for me. I'm a T T patient and need higher doses of T3 that Dr Blanchard recommends in his book.
I am also a lab rat found my dosage through trial and error, without a thyroid.
It's not easy, everyone if different, good luck Ratty.
If there were good doctors, we wouldn't have to be lab rats. I've resumed NDT @ 1 grain 3X daily. Clear improvement in energy & mood. It's the beginning of the journey.

Just to add a note:
If you compare 1 microgram of T4 and 1 microgram of T3 - you find that there are quite a few more molecules of T3 than of T4. This is simply because a T3 molecule is lighter than a T4 molecule.
The difference is of the order of 19% more T3 molecules than T4 for a given weight.
Hey experimental, how did you get on with a 1:1 ratio? I'm currently trying it myself, and it seems to affect me better than the 4:1 T4:T3 ratio I tried before.
