Visiting a Private GP, Practitioner or Endocrinologist

Thyroid UK has a rule of not mentioning comments about doctors that you visit on the actual community although discussion can be had via the private message system.

We want to ensure that people are aware that our list of private GPs and practitioners and our list of NHS and private endocrinologists is purely a list. It is not a list of clinicians recommended by Thyroid UK.

Therefore, if you decide to visit one of the doctors or practitioners, we would advise that you research them thoroughly to make sure that they are the doctors that you need i.e. do they prescribe T3 or NDT or do they deal with adrenal issues?

You can ask for experiences on the community but responses must be via the private message system.

The same goes for any clinicians or practitioners that are recommended by other members. It might be an idea for you to get more than one member's experience before you decide to visit them. This would then avoid a waste of your money and time and ensure that you are not disappointed after the appointment.

Hello Lyn,

You stipulate the health professionals on this list is in no way recommended by ThyroidUK, so is this the list that has been recommended by members?

You provided me with a list several years ago that was very helpful.

Yes, that's correct. People tell us about their experience and we then add the doctor. We don't very often add any now though as people tend to visit the same doctors on our list.
