On NDT and my TSH in a range

I just want to ask someone if it is common for someone taking NDT to have TSH in a range? I had total thyroidectomy in 2017. I didn't feel well on Levo that's why I switched to NDT. Blood taken early in the morning , last dose of NDT 11 hours before blood test.

3 March 2022:

TSH-0.48 (0.3-4.20)

FT4-13.3 (12-22)

FT3- 5.8 (3.1-6.8)

4 March 2021:

TSH- 0.36 (0.3-4.20)

FT4-12.6 (12-22)

FT3-5.7 (3.1-6.8)

TSH will probably gradually go lower each time you’re tested until it’s completely suppressed. That’s what happened to me.

My TSH was supressed but in the last 2 years it started to go up with the same FT3 and FT4. Now, I have TSH in the range. I wonder why this is happening. I feel the same way as before with no difference.

How do you feel and how much NDT are you taking. These figures are not bad at all.I had a TT back in 2015 and take 2.25 grains of NDT everyday. My TSH is usually 0.05. You could try adding one quarter and see how it goes.

I take 1.5 grains of NDT everyday ( I am 62 kg).

If you now take only 1.5 grains you still have room for an increase. I weigh 63 kilos. How do you feel that's the point.

Hello NataliAAA;

The TSH is the least important measurement once on any form of thyroid hormone replacement.

On NDT you dose to the relief of symptoms - the blood tests and ranges were introduced to be used alongside Big Pharma's T3 and T4 treatment options.

On NDT my TSH is low suppressed - as it was on T4 monotherapy if I was allowed to be well :

However on NDT my T4 is now proportionately lower in this range BUT my T3 is proportionately higher in this range and I feel a lot better.

If you still have symptoms try adding a little 1/4 grain more and see how you go :

Do you monitor on your temperature, pulse and or blood pressure ?

Are your vitamins and minerals, especially those of ferritin, folate, B12 and vitamin D maintained at optimal levels ?

Thank you for your reply. One day I feel good another day I can feel worse. But I know that on NDT I feel 100x better then I was on Levo. My vitamins and minerals are in good ranges as I am supplementing and recently had all of them checked. Just I have problems with ferritin. I cant increase it more than 65 as my iron will be over the top of the range. I am taking 60mg of iron tablet each day. And this keeps my iron and ferritin at the same level without dropping. But my iron is at the top of the range.

Oh, I thought most ranges for ferritin in the UK were around 12 - 150 ng/mL for women :

That's confusing me as most websites suggest a ferritin of over 70 is necessary to optimize thyroid hormone conversion.

Maybe it's to do with the measurements used ??

Looking back through your previous posts, where there was a reading, you had used a very similar range to what I detailed above.

Sorry but I don't know enough to comment on the fact that your iron and ferritin are at the same level ?

Not what you're looking for?
