Which therapy helped you the most?
Can people say which of these helped them the most? I don't think there's an option for adding a poll. Dopamine agonists: These are most often the first medicines used to treat RLS. These drugs, including pramipexole (Mirapex), rotigotine (Neupro), and ropinirole (Requip), act like the neurotransmitter

Thiamine and dyskinesia
I have been taking Sinemet for 8 years and have terrible dyskinesia on the lowest dose. I’ve ordered injectable thiamine but can’t see anything about it stopping dyskinesia.

Mucuna Pruriens dosage
My husband reported to his neurologist at his annual appointment that his worst symptom was not being able to talk/throat congestion. The neurologist said this is from too much sinemet, so the doc lowered his dosage from 1 1/2 pills of 25/100 twice a day and 1 pill once a day to 1 pill three times a

Mucuna Sleepiness?
I have a question for you folks. I am taking 1 tsp of 15% Mucuna in a cup of green tea and it puts me to sleep shortly after. This happens whether I just had a good nights sleep, midday or before bed. I also take Sinemet 25/100 3x/day. Does Mucuna affect anyone else like that? Any thoughts or suggestions

Rytary coverage by Insurance
This post is the follow up post about my dad's tremors. He is 83, tried 3 different medications without any luck. Monday had an appointment with neuro and was prescribed Rytary. So, his pharmacy calls and says that Medicare does not cover this medication. We had to fill out a special form for a group

Reposting of comments on depression and the gut. How to heal the gut naturally
The following has been copied from another thread and covers issues about the role of the gut in depression, and ACAC has such useful advice here about how to heal the gut that I have reposted it for people who missed that thread. My husband has had depression and anxiety for quite a few years prior

Why have I never known of RLS-UK before now?
Well...having had RLS and Period Limb Movement diagnosed in 2000 (following a chance conversation with a friend/colleague who worked in the sleep study dept of a large teaching hospital) although I certainly had symptoms from childhood, I have had UK hospital/ Consultant input since 2000 and from approx

Generic world
I haven't seen this addressed before although I'm sure it has been: Generic Drugs. I was diagnosed about 9 years ago and started out on Ropinirole and Carbidopa/Levodopa 50/200. The C/L was generic. I don't believe I have ever taken Sinemet, the name brand. My neurologist gave me several samples

to all commenters and members concerning the "just for laughs /gags" video I posted yesterday
Just because the sinemet is doing more harm than good and the b1 hasn't kicked in yet, and the food I'm eating becomes my worst enemy for many days, and getting up from a sitting or reclining position is a daunting proposition, and I have the shanks, doesn't mean I have to be miserable. Long term use of Macuna Pruriens
Are there any negative side effects in using Macuna Pruriens, such as the side effects of long term use of Carbidopa or Sinemet? Is using Macuna Pruriens a greater benefit or is it just a natural way of managing Parkinson’s? Would the dosage/use of Macuna Pruriens need to be increased as person with

Why I want to research active microbiome therapies for Parkinsons
Why I think the microbiome is key (Stick with it – links to poo coming up…) Having been diagnosed with PD, and offered regular Sinemet therapy, I resolved to look for alternatives and hope for a cure. Dopamine – whilst central to PD and effectively the definition of the disease, appears to be only part

Help! How do you time your eating with taking Sinemet?
Hi folks, this is willason, this is my second post. Thanks to everyone who communicated with me on my first post. I've been having so many problems the past few weeks managing my PD. I'm sure many of you can relate. One of my problems is managing when I eat in relation to when I take my Sinemet.

Liver question
I am a new arrival to this group. After 10 years of treating my husband for Parkinson's, now a leading doctor tells us his diagnosis is Atypical, or Dementia that presents itself as Parkinson's. No one can confirm if the symptoms have been caused by the meds or if it is a progression of the disease

Avoiding Big Pharma.
I am new to blogging, this is our story. My wife has had PD for 3 years and treated only with Sifrol (pramipexole) and Cipramil for the nerves, we found when we increased doses the PD symptoms got worse, so we reduced to the current level which was okay til now, then the local GP suggested 'it is time

Losing my voice
I hope someone can help. I have been taking Sinemet for 5 years and the side effects have been difficult to deal with but the latest one is unbearable. And I know no one with this problem. It stops me talking. I either can't talk at all as it feels like my throat is swollen and someone is standing on

Hi everyone, I am new here. I want to try Manitol for Parkinson. I was diagnosed 6 years ago. I take Sinemet, selegilina and MUCUNA. Starting Sinemet today. My mummy has been diagnosed with suspected PSP last month. Any support out there? Would be much appreciated. First dose and mum has already mentioned the dizziness and sleepiness.
