Thiamine and dyskinesia

I have been taking Sinemet for 8 years and have terrible dyskinesia on the lowest dose. I’ve ordered injectable thiamine but can’t see anything about it stopping dyskinesia.

Some members have reported improvement in dyskinesia. Erniediaz is the last member who I remember mentioning it and his declined significantly in a relatively short time, but he has so far responded relatively quickly to HDT as in just hours after his first dose, he mentioned that he could feel a difference that he equated with his first oral dose of HDT and this would not be a very common occurrence with oral dosing, only with the IM injections which have sometimes shown a response within an hour or so . Many members have reported some response in the first week or two, but some have taken months to see positive results, so patience is an absolute must in order to give HDT a chance to do its thing.

That's exactly right Art, my dyskinesia has disappeared and the past few days I've noticed my only symptoms to be a tremor on my right arm and occasionally a slight limp on my right leg. But I've noticed remarkable improvements.

That is really great to hear, Ernie and I love that you are continuing to improve! I know everyone is different and react differently to HDT, but you have continuously showed improvement on HDT from your first day of oral dosing with the pure powder form if my memory serves me correctly. Are you still using the pure powder form or are you now using the pills that also contain magnesium or some combination of the two? I remember you ordered the pills for your trip, but I thought you had left them with a friend of yours who has PD? How long have you been on HDT now?

Thank you for posting that, Ernie!

sydneyruby,

HDT = high dose thiamine. Thiamine is vitamin B-1. It is used as a protocol developed by an Italian neurologist named Dr. Costantini who has is practice in Viterbo Italy. Many of the forum members have found very significant improvements in their PD symptoms using HDT. Here is a link to a page that will tell you all about HDT, Dr. Costantini, dosing ideas, a list of 80 symptom improvements reported by members on this forum as well as where and what to get.

Are you against having DBS? I am 8 yrs out and have dyskinesia from carbi/levo also.

I’d rather take thiamine than have DBS but it’s an option if thiamine doesn’t work.
