Is hair loss a given?
Hi all - I know that hair loss/thinning is listed as a possible side effect of taking hydroxyurea. I immediately latched on to the word “possible”, in the hope that it also means loads of us on the drug will not lose hair. My haemo has many young patients who have to take hydroxy forever for sickle cell

RECEDING GUMS DUE TO MEDICATION FROM LUNG TRANSPLANT. HELP?
I am in recovery from a double lung transplant. I am so fortunate to be able to breathe properly again! However all the drugs I am using are ruining my gums, I am 65 so I know teeth and gums do get worse, but is there anything that will prevent this gum deterioration.

Happy 2 year lungaversary to me!!!!
Well it's been two years since my single lung transplant. It's not been easy I tell yer, 3 months after transplant I had to have my other lung removed due to aspergillus but that went completely wrong and I went into cardiac arrest four times and ended up in a coma on ecmo for three months with a trachy

Lung transplant - how do youmake that decision?
hi everyone,I have just been told that I forfill the criteria for a double lung transplant at Birmingham QE. It’s massive news and I am delighted to be accepted and have that chance, however I’m not sure I’m ready to make that decision. It all feels a bit surreal. I lost my partner 2 years ago to cancer

Hi there folks. As you will know from my previous posts (if you have read them) I am 10 weeks now post liver transplant and as far as my new liver is concerned all is going well. My problem is that I am being plagued by back pain and back ache at the moment that is making me almost immobile. My brother

I am a 19 year old girl who had a kidney transplant exactly 2 years ago. I have just recentlly got a job in a hospital being a hostess, giving out tea, coffee, water and evening meals to patients. With there being a lot of infections around the hospital I’m not sure whether this is the right job for

Post transplant weight
Hi I had a liver transplant 3 years ago. It was complex but during my long hospital stay I lost nearly 4 st. Since then I have gradually put on weight and I am almost at my pretransplant weight-16st. I am fairly immobile due to a post transplant stroke so I am only mobile via scooter or short walking

My Little Story, of the UK and France
Hello peeps, long story short!! I was being cared for by very professional Doctors at Southampton General Hospital, many tests etc we've all been there, in the end I was advised due to the lack of Donors it would be a 50/50 chance of getting a transplant in time, and as I was not at that time ill enough

Hip pain
So Ryan has been through the loop.. about every 30 days since August 23rd when we learned of his brain tumor something new has popped up.. the lung tumor that is 4.7cm and now left hip pain to the point where he can’t walk. Where did this come from? Is this a sign the cancer has spread to his bones?
