Advice needed please
I’m on Symbicort twice daily for asthma and mild COPD. Only just realised that having just used up one inhaler, my spare has gone missing. I’m on holiday in America for the next 3 weeks. Upon asking in the local pharmacy if I could buy Symbicort I was advised that I need a prescription (so need to

Is there any difference between Galactooligosaccharides and Fruchtooligosaccarides ? Calling fbirder !
Have started taking Bimuno prebiotic preparation to benefit my gut (it’s a Galacto-oligosaccharide). It’s quite expensive. £20.00 for 220grams , conveniently divided into 3.65 gram sachets . I now see that one can buy Fruchto-oligosaccharide , called Inulin , which is much cheaper— £9.00 for 750 grams

Hi! New to this Community
Hi Everyone! I have just joined this Community and am also in the Liver Community. I have had Type 2 Diaberes for at least 20 years - haven’t anything more than a feeling as to when first diagnosed. As usual, I suppose ?, it was controlled by diet moving on to Metformin. When I had my liver transplant

Mum's Quadruple heart bypass surgery
Hi, I'm new her my mum had quadruple heart bypass surgery just over 2 months ago. Seems to be healing well, though there is just 1 length of her lower leg that is slow to heal, and she's still having nurses in every other day to change dressings, and been referred to vascular team at hospital. She has

Travel Insurance
Hi I'm struggling to get worldwide travel insurance at a reasonable price. As soon as I declare heart attack & stent along with my diabetes (not insulin dependent) then I'm rejected. Any recommendations?

Low-carbohydrate diet plus walking to reduce metabolic disturbances caused by ADT.
New study from Steve Freedland below. "The objective of this study was to test a low-carbohydrate diet (LCD) plus walking to reduce androgen deprivation therapy (ADT)-induced metabolic disturbances." "LCD (≤20g carbohydrate/day) plus walking (≥30 min for ≥5 days/week)" "At 6 months, LCD/walking reduced

Help with New blood results. Started with functional Doc and want to know your thoughts. Thanks
I am Male. I started going to a functional Doctor as I have gotten tired of dealing with GP's that will not look at anything else but TSH and getting nowhere with them. The blood results are all requested by my functional Doc. With the results she has put me on LDN 1.5mg. Switched from Synthroid

Just a small rant and slightly off-topic question.
Hi everyone. I just refilled my T3-liothyronine- and it took quite a bit of looking around to find a pharmacy who had it in stock. Quite a few seem to have it back-ordered and delivery dates are unsure. Scary! Apparently because of our government shutdown (US) (which is so catastrophic for so many it

T3 and insulin resistance?
I have been diagnosed with insulin resistance (fasting blood glucose and insulin levels in range but close to upper normal limit). Symptoms are difficulty losing weight (I'm overweight), cravings and increased appetite. My doctor suggested Metformin, but I preferred to try a supplement instead and opted

Metabolic Syndrome & the prevalence of PCa.
New study below. For many years, I have thought of PCa as a metabolic disease. Long-term diabetics have a lower risk for PCa, yet a higher risk for all other cancer types. To me, this clearly suggests that insulin resistance may be a PCa risk factor. In the U.S., 9.4% of the population (30.3 million

A Secondary Analysis of the Exenatide-PD Trial
In this seconday analysis of a randomized clinical trial, serum samples from 60 participants in the Exenatide-PD trial were used to isolate neuronal-derived exosomes to evaluate levels of the brain insulin-signaling proteins and downstream effectors protein kinase B (Akt) and mechanistic target of rapamycin
