voice concerns

Am taking Fostair twice a day and Salbutamol inhaler when necessary.

I am worried about my croaky voice which varies a lot but sometimes so bad that I can hardly be heard.

Could the inhalers be the problem?

I do gargle and rinse my mouth after taking, but to no avail!!

Many thanks for any guidance

Sylvia

croaky voice that doesn't go away is a reason to see your GP.

maybe try using a spacer when using the inhaler, my husband was getting a croaky voice and the spacer has helped.

Thanks for that, but a spacer just hasn’t helped at all. I use it twice a day and always gargle and rinse out my mouth!! I can be perfectly normal then suddenly go very croakyand almost lose my voice!! GP no help. X

Might be worth booking a review with your asthma nurse - I always find they are more help than the doctors! If you do, get them to check your inhaler technique in case adjusting that might help - I'm usually ok, but I sometimes find if I'm rushed or not concentrating, I end up with too much hitting the back of my throat instead of my lungs, and then I spend the day sounding croaky!

Also, how often are you using the Salbutamol? I find it makes me croaky - usually wears off after a few hours, but I had a major flareup this week and had to use a lot, so three days later, I'm still sounding like a chain smoker!

Thanks for your reply. I use Fostair twice a day and Salbutamol only if I need it, which is rarely. I did have a review last year but the nurse had no ideas regarding hoarseness or loss of voice. I maybe should try again!!
