why am I B12 deficient?
after being diagnosed B12 deficient a year ago I have completed a course of loading doses and then prescribed 3-monthly b12 injections indefinitely, i wanted to know why I need this? After having an iron deficiency a few years ago I took supplements for both iron and b vitamins (inc B12) and as a vegetarian

Vitamin D and Breast Cancer Risk
Although this is slightly off topic in a thyroid forum it does has some relevance as vitamin D deficiency is common in hypothyroidism. This study http://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0199265 shows that vitamin D levels below 60 ng/ml (150 nmol/L) are associated with increased

Folic acid and when to start?
Ive had Hashimotos for approx 8 years and medicate with NDT as Levo wasn’t great. My Vit B12 was low in 2013/14 when I joined here. Getting nowhere with Doctors and Endo, I started to supplement on B12 tablets and Folic Acid. I’ve recently had another B12 serum blood test and it was 139 (145-625) and

D3 and K2
My daughter is deficient in B12, folate and vitamin D. We have sorted out treatment for the B12 and folate. I’m slightly confused as to the reason K2 is needed with Vitamin D. If vitamin D deficiency can cause depression and cognitive symptoms, then why would you want the vitamin D going to the bones

Hi All One of the administrators mentioned this condition in passing earlier this week and I looked it up never having heard of it before. In doing so, I found out exactly what was wrong with me and confirmed that the doctors and nurses and specialists that I have spoken too are completely ignorant of

Daughter's vitamin results, advice please?
Hello, I am here on behalf of my 31 year old daughter, I am very worried about her health. I am concerned about her mental symptoms too, I have made a list of them. As well as having hypothyroid diagnosed in 2013 she was found to have iron deficiency anaemia in 2014 due to ferritin below range back then

Help/suggestions with BH thyroid test results
I have just received the results from my Blue Horizon thyroid +11 test today. Blood test was taken first thing in the morning, finger prick method, fasting. I have not been diagnosed yet with a thyroid disorder, but am pretty sure that's the case as my mother has and grandmother had thyroid disease.

B12 injections discontinued
Hi there I had B12 deficiency diagnosed a couple of years ago, and as it wasn’t diet related, my GP put me on lifelong B12 injections even though he didn’t feel I really needed them as IFA was negative (this was in Hull following HEY guidelines I suppose). He was very dismissive of my neurological symptoms

Hi, I’m Jodie I’m 24 and I’ve recenetly been diagnosed with B12 deficiency. (Sounds like I’m at an AA meeting!) It’s all still very new to me and I’m still learning a lot about the condition. I’ve had my six injections and I’m getting my first ‘3 month’ one tomorrow. The past week I have been feeling

Vitamin B12 Patches
It seems that people on this site have not yet discovered vitamin B12 patches (they are like plasters). They are much better than supplements, because supplements have to be digested by the stomach and the liver has to work hard with them. Vitamin patches go STRAIGHT INTO THE BLOOD STREAM. No digestion
