Hi All

One of the administrators mentioned this condition in passing earlier this week and I looked it up never having heard of it before.

In doing so, I found out exactly what was wrong with me and confirmed that the doctors and nurses and specialists that I have spoken too are completely ignorant of the range of problems b12 deficiency can cause.

At my practice, b12 deficiency means pernicious anemia- period! When I told them of my recurring symptoms - absence seizure followed by tinnitus followed by auditory hallucinations- the sequence lasting about 10 seconds - they just looked at me as if I was mad and said categorically that they were not b12 deficiency symptoms. I spoke to a so called specialist provided by Benenden and was talked through the mental health route - I was advised that I was speaking to someone who knew about b12 deficiency but this ‘specislist’ Had obviously never heard about megabolistic anemia and the madness that can result from it.

What was most concerning about the syndrome was how it creates dementia symptoms which, if treated in time, are curable.

After 3+ years of 12 weekly injections my madness has almost gone and my memory is much better as is the fluency of my speech so maybe it’s only the injections that matter not the symptoms caused by b12 deficiency.

If you have neurological / psychological symptoms, which it sounds like you do, you should be getting weekly injections.

What type of B12 injections, hydroxo or cyano are you currently getting?

Are you also supplementing with folic acid and how much?

I also supplement with daily B1, B6 and a daily multivitamin to support nerve repair.

Not what you're looking for?
