Mycophenolate
Has anyone been prescribed mycophenolate to treat the symptoms of their ataxia? I go to see Professor Hadjivassiliou in Sheffield and he suggests I take this medication, but it's an immunosuppressant and has side effects, so I am unsure. Any feedback would be much appreciated. I'm feeling very anxious

27yo male in my 5th year after being diagnosed with igA Nephropathy (Berger's Disease)
I was diagnosed with IGAN in 2013. Back then it wasn't bad. Can't remember what my GFR was at the time but I felt fine and didn't take the diagnosis seriously at all. So 4 years go by and I decide I should probably at least get it checked up on. These are the results of my blood work from 5/17: Protein

At the moment I am only taking selenium, I may start another course of Intravenous steroids followed up with
immunosuppressants
(another hospital suggested this). I am stuck in two minds on what to do. Thank you in advance. Rizo

Encouraging start to latest steroid dose drop
Got to the end of the first full week on my new steroid dose, 8mg (down from 8.5mg), and definitely looking encouraging. Have some increased bladder incontinence, but minor by my standards. Much better at this point a week in than I expected to be, in terms of how things usually go wrong neurologically

If you have not done so already, please have a discussion with your transplant team re the affects of
immunosuppressants
on the gut microbiome. It is not a question of "if" but "when" changes will occur.

Methotrexate
So I'm wondering and concerned about taking 2 strong
immunosuppressants
. I would love to hear what others think about this and how it has helped or hindered you.

Hi This is my first posting on this site. I was diagnosed with hashimoto's in 2012 and have been taking levothyroxine since then. Am currently taking 125mcg daily and still have lots of symptoms of hypothyroidism, fatigue, hair loss, difficulty losing weight, brain fog, poor memory to name a few.

Feeling down
I have hyper mobility, mild asthma and connective tissue disease (probable lupus) I was put on a immunosuppressant back in July. They are strong so I said I didn't want my dose increased when I saw the nurse a couple of weeks ago. My fatigue reduced. I started to feel well again apart from when I come

Flu jab if having a flare up ?
I've been having a flare up since June so am on high dose steroids and
immunosuppressants
. It's still not under control yet. How I look at it is that drugs are trying to suppress my immune system and putting a flu virus into me now could make me poorly and poor body won't know what to do.

Worrisome info about vaccines
This is specific to NEuromyelitis Optica but the overlap with MS and the odd fact that immunosuppressive DMTs are protective makes me want to "watch this space" Plus if you are on an immunosuppressive DMT, I wonder how effective your immune response to a vaccine is? Is there reduced efficacy? https:/
