Vitamin A & D Supplements
I’m not looking for medical advice, just your thoughts. I met with a hepatologist mid January for consultation. I was very impressed with him but I have a problem with one thing. He wanted me to take 10,000 IU Vit A daily & prescription 50,000 IU Vit D weekly. My levels were not checked but Vit D was

After my Bladder Cancer diagnosis, along with CIS and having had 3 years of BCG, it was nothing compared to how friends and relatives reacted. To say I was ostracized is an understatement. After informing those who knew me, the emails and telephone calls stopped. It was though I had an infectious disease

PMR disappeared overnight
I was diagnosed with PMR 15 months ago and put on 30mg and tapered weekly down to 10mg. Last December I had a flu jab and developed a nasty cough and cold but overnight my PMR has gone! I have continued taking 3mg of prednisone day but a week ago dropped down to 2.5 and have since experienced hot flushes

Frustrated - please help me with my battle plan :)
In the United States... So, last year my daughter was diagnosed hypothyroid. In studying up on that, I suspected I was too - brain fog, fatigue, low basal temp, high bp, insomnia, mild depression among other things. In Nov. I got doc to order labs. He wanted to take a wait and see based on numbers

Allergy to the sun
I have been diagnosed with solar urticaria and have tried all sunscreena, all combinations of antihistamines and Xolair injections, (which worked for a short time then quit working.) Has anyone tried PUVA (photosensitivity treatments) or low dose naltrexone? All I can do is wear many layers of clothes

How to measure RANK/L and OPG serum levels?
Hi all, I have 2 questions and then I'll explain my story: - Are RANKL and OPG available as blood tests (medical journals show patient testing of serum levels of these but I've struggled to find places that offer them as blood tests)? - Should I be seeing an endocrinologist or geneticist for issues related

Constant Infections
Hiya everyone, I returned to work in November last year, working at an infant school. I still have Afib and flutter and think I have occasional SVTs since the ablation last June but my heart has not been a major problem except for the tiredness from taking the drugs. I had my flu vaccine last year

Imbruvica with Hep B
Three years ago when I was diagnosed with Non Hodgkin Lymphoma the first doctor went out of his way to protect my liver. In 1982, 35 years ago I had a full blown case of Hepatitis B. I was tested for Hep B antibodies before I went on the first chemo medication. Along with the first three chemo drugs

Hepatologist Appt 🥰
For those who have been wondering, I finally had my appt yesterday. He isn’t the one I’ve been waiting for. Seemed the other one was taking a little too long. My GI’s NP made a phone call to Dr Mantry, head of Hepatology at Methodist Liver Institute in Dallas. (Methodist denied him seeing me a few months

Travel insurance (I'm in UK)
Hello everyone! I hope you're all well. I haven't been on here for a while, I needed time to accept everything, struggled with panick attacks but A therapist later and a bit of counselling made me feel better. 😊 I'm planning to make a few trips this year, all in Europe and I have never had travel insurance

Does topical retinoic acid effect the thyroid??
I believe that 25 years of daily topical Retin a has had an effect on my ability to convert t4 to active t3 based on my blood work. I do not have an autoimmune disorder. Wondering if it has something to do with retinol binding receptors and thyroid receptors?? Any ideas!????

Try Another Hepatologist or just wait?
No one knows what's the cause, but I do have inflammation in the liver and it's been ongoing. I've been to both a gastro and a Hepatologist and they said crytogenic hepatitis. However, its treated like a disease (kinda, no medication though) I was offered to try again and get a third opinion. Should

Hepatitis jabs
Hi all it just occurred to me that I haven’t posted about this. The advice is to have inoculations against hepatitis because if you’re liver is already struggling, contracting hepatitis is going to make things a whole lot worse. I got tested first cause my mum has hepatitis, then asked for the jabs

HPV Vaccine
Hello does anyone have any advice on the risk of my daughter getting RA or other autoimmune disease triggered if she has the HPV vaccine. They are about to give them to 12 to 13yr olds at her school. I am nervous because I have read there is some evidence to suggest a link. I also know someone who's
