About live shingles shot
I have been reading all about the problems with the live shingles vaccine shot. I had the live shot and three months or so later I was diagnosed with PMR. No one told me about that being a side effect. I have had pmr for over 3 years and can't get below 12mg. I am wondering if the vaccine is still active

The findings that the death rate for men is higher than that for women is not surprising: "Officials recorded a 2.8% fatality rate for male patients versus 1.7% for women." Women tend to launch a vigorous assault on viral insults, whereas men with normal-high testosterone [T] have a more muted response

Shingles vaccine and asthma
I am the age where you are invited to have the shingles vaccine, and I need to decide soon, as the offer is time limited. It is clear from what I have read that you should not take it if you are on oral steroids, but it suggests that inhaled steroids are fine. Has anyone had this and how was it? I am

Dr. Osborne had a webcast last night on how to protect yourself by building your immune system. He made interesting comments about certain vitamins in high doses on a temporary basis. He mentioned taking vitamin c throughout the day, a high dose of vitamin d for three days, a higher dose of vitamin

Shingles vaccine
Hi, I have been having mepolizumab injections for over a year now with amazing results. I have just been offered the shingles vaccine. Does anyone know if this is contraindicated.

Fed up with always getting colds and bugs
I ended 2018 with a nasty chest infection which took months and a ton of medication to budge. After that I seemed to have a cold or a bug every few weeks, all through the year. 2019, I spent 2nd Christmas in a row, too poorly to get out of bed (with a cold, each time, rather than regular hypo symptoms

Asthma symtoms and further test denied
Hi all, this is the first time I post here. I want to share my first experience with (Asthma?) symptoms. Since one year I started to experience episodes of breathless mainly at work, cought and sudden awakenings in the night with suffocation feeling. I always thought it was for anxiety and stress. But

Who is the best Healthcare Professional to see
I was just on the website of an NHS GP practice. It offers this list of reasons you might need to see someone and identifies who would be appropriate. Spot “thyroid” in any form! (“Tiredness and fatigue” doesn’t count – too nebulous, not at all specific.) Given that levothyroxine is just about the most-prescribed

Pneumonia Jab
Has anybody had the one-off pneumonia jab offered by the GP surgeries? I was offered it after the flu jab but I had to make another appointment for the pneumonia jab but the queue for the reception was really long so I left it. But with the coronavirus on its way it might be a good idea to get it done

Mixed diagnosis, right upper quadrant pain and normal lfts
Hi there I’m looking for some advice. I have had transient liver enzymes since jan 2019 and peaking at 200 alt only. Usually static at 80 -alt. Numerous blood results are not showing a spike to suggest auto immune hoverer ana has been positive. All scans have been normal and biopsy showed that possible
