How long to wait before increasing levothyroxine dose?
I had a
hemithyroidectomy
after what turned out to be a follicular adenoma in 2003 and was diagnosed as hypo in 2009. I really don't want to wait another six months for another appointment and can't really afford to pay a specialist every time I need to change my dose.

Calcium channel blockers - impact on T3 and T4
After a
hemithyroidectomy
, she can only function by taking 40mcg T3 daily. You have to wonder whether the Amlodipine is at least part of the problem.

Hemithyroidectomy!
I am 17 and getting a
hemithyroidectomy
soon through the NHS. Not going to lie, I am quite worried about haha. I have a few question about what happens post-op; is it difficult to eat after the surgery and if so, after how many days does the pain die down?

Completely confused and in need of expert advice.
I finally had a left
hemithyroidectomy
in December. Since then I have felt awful. I had my thyroid function checked at the end of January and was started on 50mg of levothyroxine. It made no difference at all to my symptoms. I was retested 6 weeks later and told I was in range.

Do I need medication?
I had primary hyperparathyroidism last year and as a result had a
hemithyroidectomy
when I had the parathyroid adenoma removed. I haven't been given any thyroid medication since.

Better consenting for thyroidectomy: who has an increased risk of postoperative hypocalcaemia?
Total thyroidectomy increases risk of early hypocalcaemia when compared to
hemithyroidectomy
. Gender, diabetes and thyrotoxicosis were also been found to influence the risk.

Breathlessness is reflux not thyroid nodules playing up
So after 2 years of seeing a rheumatologist, a Neurologist, Ent and my Gp countless times and being booked for right
hemithyroidectomy
then cancelled the week before, I now have been told I have reflux and he doesn't want to do the surgery.

TSH blood results pre op & post hemithyroidectomy
I had a
hemithyroidectomy
to remove left side and tumor & cyst in Nov. No symptoms apart from the huge lump. TSH before op was 1.59 my post op 6 week result is 2.8. I'm exhausted, I've gained a stone, I can't concentrate, haven't been to the gym since op as no energy.

How to get help for hypothyroid B12 deficiency?
After about 7 years of being ill following
hemithyroidectomy
surgery, I had blood tests at GP that came back normal for vitamin B12 and a bit low but still in (NHS) normal range for folate. I had a range of growing symptoms.

6 week follow up Hemithyroidectomy, what to do now?
Had my 6 weeks follow up after
Hemithyroidectomy
, scar healing well. I'm still so tired and struggling with concentration. I lack motivation, I've gained weight as I'm too tired for the gym ( just about get through my 9-5) I'm making mistakes at work and just generally feel really low.

Should 1st blood test after Hemithyroidectomy be a fasting blood test ?
I have my 6 week follow up blood test appointment confirmed at GP's after my
Hemithyroidectomy
to see if my remaining half is working. Should it be a fasting test ? Rang the GP's and they don't know !! Will ring hospital tomorrow but curious now 😊

19 Days Post Hemithyroidectomy (Partial Tyroidectomy)
Hi , Wanted to post another update, in case it helps others like me. Now 19 days post op, scar healing really nicely. Pathology results were good, and I'm starting to feel more human. I'm still very tired but back in full time work and coping ok, few issues with the fatigue but hoping that will pass.

Forever hopeful!
I had a
hemithyroidectomy
in 2013 for a Benign cyst in my throat. All was well it was removed and my blood were all fine. In 2014 I was the Forbes and lightest I'd ever been due to working out and eating well.

Thermal ablation of nodules and cysts
I've just been for what I thought was a routine check up on cyst, to be asked by the consultant when I was having
hemithyroidectomy
. He then showed me a letter sent to my go 6 months ago. .... never seen it before in my life. Also stated cyst was 4 cm when it is actually 2cm .
