hemithyroidectomy recovery
I am between 24-48hrs post
hemithyroidectomy
and am very uncomfortable. Just wondering what other people’s recovery was like? How long until you were able to do normal day to day things. I have 3 young children and am very active so finding this really difficult! Thanks.

Lump in throat following hemithyroidectomy
Hello all,I wake up in the morning with a strong sensation of a lump at the base of my throat. As I had surgery in December 23 I was expecting some discomfort for a while but it's not improving. It is worse in the morning then fades somewhat during the day but never fully goes away. I would like to speak

Hemithyroidectomy
Here I am now at 12 weeks post
hemithyroidectomy
, feeling pretty rubbish, constantly exhausted, my anxiety has hit the roof and I can tick off most of the hypothyroid symptoms.

Thyroid cancer, hypothyroidism and kidney function
Hello, I’m usually on the pernicious anaemia forum but I’ve been recovering from a diagnostic
hemithyroidectomy
confirming thyroid cancer. I think I am beginning to enter hypothyroidism in a big way and am waiting for my NHS TSH test results.

subclinical hyperthyroid after hemithyroidectomy
evening all 🙂 I had a
hemithyroidectomy
in 2021 due to a large benign tumour on the left side of my thyroid, the right side was biopsied but left due to being non cancerous even though there is 3cm nodule on there. I didn’t get put on any medication post surgery as bloods were all ok.

Low t3 with high t4, graves.
I've had one episode of toxic nodule hyperthyroidism back in 2015,
hemithyroidectomy
in 2018. Then I got graves (unrelated apparently) in 2022. My t4 was 63, my t3 was 30! so was on carb until June 2023. I've not been on any meds since.

Partial thyroidectomy and parathyroid glands
Anyone know whether surgeons try to preserve the parathyroid glands associated with the half-thyroid removed during a
hemithyroidectomy
? I would imagine that they're tricky to preserve so I wouldn't be surprised if they just whip them out along with the half-thyroid being removed.

Help with blood test results and symptoms please
Hi, I have hashimotos, and had a
hemithyroidectomy
just before Xmas. Before the operation I had been described as sub-clinical hypothyroid, with a TSH of around 2.

Here are my blood test results as promised…..
I have a follow up appointment on 5/2 at the ent dept of the hospital where I had my
hemithyroidectomy
exactly one year ago, and so would really appreciate some pointers as to what I should be asking during that appointment.

Referred to private Endo - London; advice and recommendations please
I am also wondering whether I could be suffering from Hashimotos hyperthyroid flare ups: To recap; I have hashimotos, and had a
hemithyroidectomy
for a thy3F nodule just before Xmas. Before the operation I had been described as sub-clinical hypothyroid, with a TSH of around 2.

Need some help!
In October 2020 I had a
hemithyroidectomy
. First weeks I was doing great, but then my TSH started to rise and I started to notice hair loss of the outer part of the eyebrow at TSH 3 . At TSH above 4 I felt tired and my doctor put me on levothyroxine 50 MCG.

T4 not routinely tested
Hi, I am arranging post-
hemithyroidectomy
blood tests with the GP, and have been told that the lab will only test T4 if TSH reading indicates that it is necessary; wanted to check whether this means that they might miss something. I already know that I have Hashimotos. Thanks for any insight.

Reactive and exercise-induced hypoclycaemia
Morning all,I I have an appointment with an endo in June to work out whether I need thyroid medication, but think that I’ve worked out that my main problem ( since my
hemithyroidectomy
) is reactive ( post prandial) and exercise-induced hypoglycaemia.

Neck scar & weight gain
Hi everyone, I has a right
hemithyroidectomy
4 weeks ago and looking for some advice. Underneath the incision, the tissue is really hard and raised. The actual scar isn't particularly noticeable but the lump below is quite pronounced and uncomfortable.

Hemithyroidectomy or total thyroidectomy?
Hi all just like most female on my paternal side of the family, after giving birth in my late 20s I developed thyroiditis (?Hashimoto's, I have extremely high levels of TgAbs, but normal TPOs). I have a goitre (not massive) and on recent ultrasound a U3 nodule (as well as a U2). FNA biopsy has confirmed
