When to accept an increase in hydroxycarbemide tablets? Advice please
A Happy New Year to everyone. I have ET and am 70. I started hydroxycarbemide tablets in March of last year and had them increased to 9 a week after a couple of months. In August they were amazingly down to 327 . Then in November up to 415 and a month later a blood test for my cholesterol level showed

Plant Sterols.
Is it safe to take plant sterols with levothyroxine? I've been told my cholesterol is high, it's 6.1 and my GP wants me to take Statins. I am not happy about this as I feel sure they will upset my IBS so I wondered if plant sterols were compatible with levothyroxine.

Metformin to Prevent Anthropometric and Metabolic Complications of ADT in Men With Prostate Cancer Receiving Radical Radiotherapy.
There were no differences in HbA1C, triglyceride,
HDL
, and total
cholesterol
by study arm. CONCLUSIONS Men receiving radical RT and ADT gained weight and had increases in waist circumference over time, which metformin did not significantly mitigate.

Claudication in the legs
I have recently joined. I wish I had done so two years ago. I have just read a description of Claudication of the legs and realised that is exactly what I have been experiencing. Having had Claudication of the jaw during GCA I can’t think why I didn’t relate it. Possibly because old GP mentioned steroid

Warming up for Rheumy visit
But at least my Dexa scan and Cholesterol are OK, the latter being a bit high, but so is my
HDL
- very high (the good
cholesterol
), so I guess that can even it out? I tryed to take 10 mg during the weekend, and what a relief.

Struggling
Trying to make sense of it all. I'm 52. I'm a runner, every distance from parkrun up to 100km ultra marathons. I also regularly rock climb.. Don't smoke, only drink at weekends and have a balanced diet. Last Monday I had a HA and 2 stents fitted on Wednesday morning. Feel like my life has changed

Medichecks Result and a warning about testing & HRT
Apologies for the long post (my first) and thank you if you manage to get to the end of it. Bit of history first (there's more in my bio), after 7 years of being bedbound with a diagnosis of fibromyalgia, I was finally prescribed combination T3/T4 in 2018. I hadn't had my bloods checked since 2019

newly diagnosed with high cholesterol
I’ve just decided to take statins after poor cholesterol results - 7.1 overall, ‘bad’ around 4, always been against them but worried lifestyle/diet changes not enough. Think might have famial type as mother always had very high levels despite healthy diet. but brother won’t get tested!
