The high

Familial Polycythemia
Our blood tests always show a red cell count around 5.6,
Haemoglobin
160 and ESR 9. We've never been given any information but my daughter saw her GP yesterday and discussed the blood test results, he said we clearly have familial Polycythemia and should be being checked regularly.

My partner has had slowly rising
haemoglobin
for about 6 months but it stayed quite borderline. Since Christmas, the hct and rbc have also been elevated. The gp has referred him on the nhs but the appointment wasn’t until August so we decided to go private.

Low platelets
This knocked for six and she has been in hospital with low white blood cells, low
haemoglobin
and has no immune system. I appreciate these are common side effects. As a result, mum has had a blood transfusion and her levels are rising, which is good. However, her platelets are low and reducing.

My low ferritin saga continues
His response I'm sure will cause some amusement for all the wrong reasons - he said " low ferritin levels in the absence of low
haemoglobin
are of no clinical significance and do not require any action - we will only give supplements if
haemoglobin
is low i.e. anaemic".

Fatigue
Good Day Everyone My question is, should I be feeling fatigued with lymphocytes around 43 and
haemoglobin
at 12.1 g/dl or could the fatigue be caused by some other blood deficiency such as iron or vitamin B12.

Pancreas problems after RT for prostate
At same time my
haemoglobin
levels were falling gradually below lowest levels. Dietician suspected I may have exocrine pancreatic insufficiency - said she'd had another patient with similar history to mine. EPI has now been confirmed.

Low dose aspirin
Looking back on past blood tests I noticed that since I was put on the low dose aspirin, due to being diagnosed with angina at the beginning of last year, my
haemoglobin
levels have dropped a bit although not to the point of being anemic until now.

Heart problems
I want to know is my heart damaged because of the MPN because it has had to work harder,
haemoglobin
being below normal for 4 years , and is it OK for me to continue park runs and long walks? Any similar experiences?
