NHS Organ Donation - Erin’s story
I saw this story over on the “Children’s Liver Disease Foundation” site this morning and thought it might be nice to share. If anything this should be a message of hope for all those suffering from anxiety and worrying about their liver condition. Ten-year-old Erin has just celebrated her tenth transplant

Last year I my alt was 43. I panicked, quit drinking went to the gastro for a full medical work up and had a fibroscan. My alt came down and all of my tests pointed to a normal liver. Six months later I began drinking a drink on Friday, two on Saturday and two on Sunday. I did this for six months

Feeling Anxious about possible cirrhosis
Went for a regular checkup, found out liver enzymes were slightly elevated. Ultrasound showed fatty liver with nodular contour parenchyma. Suspicious of cirrhosis. No ascites and normal portal vein blood flow. I do not have any symptoms and feeling anxious. I’m waiting on GI appt. I have drank

Feeling desperate
Hi, where to start? I'm a 39 year old female with a history of alcohol dependency since my early 20s. Three months ago I had an episode of jaundice & stopped drinking. Since then I've developed other symptoms, including clonic jerks/muscle twitches, especially at night but now during the day too. My

High GGT?
I got a GGT result of 108 in May and immediately stopped drinking. I never drank more than 2 glasses of wine a night. My test results today were 60. I thought they would be back to normal. My AST was normal and ALT was just slightly elevated. 4 points over acceptable range. Should I be worried?

Another update!
Hello all I've had my letter from the consultant come regarding my latest results. I've gone from severe fatty liver to mild fatty liver, and borderline cirrhosis to normal! My liver contour is now as it should be so I'm very pleased. As I still have mild fatty liver I will continue to lose weight

Is it always NASH
If I have fatty liver and most of the time have elevated liver enzymes does that automatically mean it is Nash? From what I’ve been reading it appears if you have fat with inflammation markers then it’s always Nash? Is this true or can you have fatty liver with ALt in 60s and just simple fatty liver?

Mum drinking with Liver Disease
Hi everyone, My mum has Liver cirrhosis, she's an alcoholic that has drank for many years. She was recently hospitalised with Ascites (fluid in the belly) and has been released with diuretics, antibiotics & vitamins B & D, she was told she must stop drinking or she will die. I don't know exactly how

Does Fatty Liver Disease cause sensitivity to hot or spicy foods.
As the subject of my post suggests, I have questions about how sufferers of Fatty Liver Disease cope with hot or spicy food, but I thought I should first reintroduce myself as it’s been a while since I was here. I’m 66, and I think I first joined this site around 7 years when I had my first spell

Had my appointment with the hepatology consultant.
I attended this appointment on Wednesday the 19th. The consultant booked a fibroscan. He indicated that nothing points to decompensated cirrhosis at this stage.. My LFT's keep coming down and is close to what is termed a normal high. They picked up on the fact that while working in nature conservation
