primary billiary cirrhosis and blood tests
Hi Wondered if anyone could answer this question for me. I’ve been diagnosed with primary billary cirrhosis. Is that different to any other type of cirrhosis or is that the same ? I’m wondering if this is why they have prescribed me URSO acid. thank you

Endoscopy surprise
I had my surveillance endoscopy today. I was diagnosed with cirrhosis in March 21. I was seriously ill with a deep rooted infection which had tipped my liver into acute on chronic liver failure. They diagnosed cirrhosis and advised me to change my lifestyle or I wouldn’t be around much longer…and very

Lump on Liver
Hi again, I was discharged after my transplant assessment as I was not ill enough yet to go on the list. I have a decompensated liver, crohns disease and diabetes. On a routine ultrasound last week they noticed a lump in my liver and referred it as urgent to my specialist. I have chased a few days

morning everyone I’m just looking for a wee bit of advice. I was diagnosed a few years ago with NAFLD. A fibroscan score came back at 20 and the consultant said possible borderline cirrhosis. Anyway, touchwood and god willing, I’m fit and well so I’m presuming compensated (?). My question is

new liver dr
I am seeing a new dr and he’s apparently one of the best in the area. I wanted to pass along some of his information. he said liver inflammation starts when numbers hit 150 for ALT or AST he believes I have a condition that causes intermittent elevated liver enzymes but since mine are only at 35 and

Fatty Liver
Hello everyone. A haematologist rang me yesterday and said I have a macrocytosis with no anaemia. My red blood cells are too large. She wants further blood tests and a liver scan. She mentioned fatty liver. I am concerned as I already have a liver enzyme not working now this. Appreciate any help. Thanks

Fibrosis result confusion
Hi all, I have been a lurker on this wonderful forum for about 61/2 years when I was diagnosed with alcohol related disease. Only symptoms were ascites and weight loss, about 3st. 8 litres were drained from abdomen at that time and I have never had any liquid build up since then. I am completely compensated

Letter from Heptologist
HelloI had a letter from the consultant to say my recent fibroscan results indicates no evidence of liver disease and they would be discharging me. I had had a BLT fibroscan back in spring which was almost 12 and my GP referred me to heptology. Sadly during this appointment last month I never actually

Hepatologist called my liver 'recompensated'
On my last visit to clinic, my specialist said 'well done with your recompensated liver'. Anyone else had such a positive diagnosis said by their specialist? I haven't found it anywhere online. I've not had any alcohol in three and half years, since I suffered a liver failure, yellow skin, fainting,

Liver enzymes continue to rise
Good day to all. I am new to this very informative sight and appreciate any comments. Firstly I am a former heavy drinker in my early 60’s who completely quit alcohol one year ago. In this year time frame my ALT/AST numbers have doubled from 68/50 to 118/82 and my GGT has gone up from 183 to 233. Every

help interpreting results
hi all, My GP isn’t the most proactive so I find I need to push a little at times. I’m looking here to see if I should be concerned and push my doctor for further testing? recently I had my yearly physical, and also had an ultrasound which showed fatty liver. Liver function tests were normal, but

Bruising, HE and Itching
I’m newly diagnosed with cirrhosis from NAFLD and trying to sort all this out. What causes bruising? I have normal platelets, albumin and INR. Why do I have bruises in odd places? They’re in areas where I know can’t be from bumping into something. Another thing I have is brain fog and insomnia,

HE and Variceal Bleed
I last posted 2 years ago after being concerned for my mom and her drinking. She was diagnosed with cirrhosis and has now been alcohol free for just over 2 years. She has had 2 variceal bleeds in the last 4 months, both times being found by her partner covered in blood and within a few weeks of seeing

Supplements - are they worth trying for liver disease?
Has anyone with fibrosis or cirrhosis had any improvement from supplements? Just wondering if it’s worth trying any natural supplements since there are no pharmaceuticals to treat cirrhosis.
