Oh what a year
This week (Wednesday) is my one year anniversary of double bypass. I’m fit, well and enjoying life to the full. To all you Heart Warriors starting out on your CABG journey, know that with a positive attitude, a smile, determination every day and family and friends, you shall prevail and be also leading

The metal wires holding my husband’s sternum together shattered. He now has constant pain and discomfort. Has anyone any experience of this?

After C25K - what I’m learning
Much to my surprise, I graduated a couple of weeks ago (23 June ‘21) and could not have been more delighted. So, having achieved my goal I was determined to keep running. But how to do it? Firstly I have kept reminding myself how brilliant I feel after a run. Also, how much it’s changed and improved

Weight Gain on levothyroxine after 18 months
I was put on levothyroxine 18 months ago at 25mg then upped to 50 and then 75mg 3 months ago but over the last 18 months I have put on 4 stone. My BMI is now 40 yet the Dr does not seem to consider this an issue. I stopped taking the meds for a week and managed to lose 2lb doing nothing different so

Lifespan of stents?
I had stents following major heart attack end of last year. While in hospital a few patients who had already had stents for a while were either being re-stented or given bypass surgery. I can’t help thinking about this and wondering how long stents can last - I recognise there will be differences between

Please any advice
Hi all, I had a full hysterectomy on Sept 2019 due to re occurring endometriosis and ovarian cysts. I had many key hole surgeries to remove both. The last key hole before my hysterectomy was performed by a lady doctor who I specifically had said I didn't want her to touch me as she had told me she wasn't

Post Operative Aortic Valve replacement, single CABG. 2019. Week ago, TIA admission to A&E and ward for 24 hours. Support needed please?
Post Operative Aortic Valve and single CABG July 2019 . On July 28th 2021 I had TIA, out of the blue. Paramedics called, taken to A&E, all investigations carried out, then up to the stroke ward for 24 hours. Home but feeling really shocked, and anxious. Live on my own. Is there a support group for this

Is it possible to take a biopsy of a cardiac artery plaque in order to determine exactly what it contains?
Hi All I was found to have, via CT Angiogram, in July 16, a very high Calcium Agatston score of 1315. I then had CABG in Feb 17 at age 66. The day before I asked if it was possible to do a biopsy of a plaque, to help in identifying what they contained. They said it was not possible. Is this correct?

Asthma
I've had cabg heart op after heart attack back 21 years ago. Always since then I've had pain in left side of chest under ribs at bottom. I blamed it on the heart op. I've recently had lung function tests at hospital and apparently I have chronic childhood asthma! Is that causing all the pain and tight

Counting down the days till the op.
Hello, Any advise would be welcome. As a couple we are now waiting for my husband to have double heart bypass surgery on 10th June. Every morning waking up to the reality is hard. The physical tips I’m reading is helpful but how do you recognise the emotional side is getting to much and seek help.

Sauna/ Steam room/ after bypass.
Hi everyone, hope everything is going ok. Just wondered if anyone who has had a triple heart bypass has been told not to use any of these? Also thinking are you aloud to use a hot tub? Just thinking, as I would like to possibly join a health club. Thanks.
