Is there some handy post that details the abbreviations that are used here ( CABG / PVST/LAD/STEMI/HCM). I have no idea if posts are relevant to my condition !-

If you look on the right you should see 'Pinned Posts', click on 'See All', scroll down a little and you'll see 'Abbreviations and acronyms'.

That doesn't work for me, Gaz chops. I go to Pinned Posts, click on "see all", scroll down through a list of items and reach Archive without any mention of Abbreviations etc. Do you know what I'd doing wrong?

Hmm not sure why you can't see it!

Try this link, if it works ok you could save it

I didn’t see CABG on that list (but I’ve just woken up and looking through one eye 🤪). CABG = Coronary Artery Bypass Graft.

In my case I had CABG x5 meaning that I had five grafts.

But to be honest if I read a post with abbreviations that I don’t know then I just bypass that post. It’s just my opinion but if someone can’t be bothered to write what they mean I can’t be bothered to look it up.

Also abbreviations doesn’t make the site new user friendly.

But that’s just my opinion and I know I’m probably in the minority.

I also write “you” in texts and not “u”.

And I write “and “ and not “n”.

So maybe it’s just me.

So as Jimmy Young used to say BFN 👋

I think they’re useful to know as Clinicians often use acronyms in letters & also for searching on here as many will use them in post titles.

Hi 007. I'm even worse, I still have to put all the correct punctuation in texts as well. When I write e-mails I revert to the old standards of letter writing (forms of address, paragraphs, punctuation etc).

Don't think at 57 I will change now!

Was only thinking the other day how sad it is that the younger generations may never have the need to write a physical letter.

Hope you are keeping well x

Hi There, hahahah I know what you mean.

I'm 68 and I try to maintain standards but I was never very good at grammar and to make matters worse, I'm slightly dyslexic so thank goodness for my spellchecker lol.

I do try though.

Yes, keeping well thanks, hope you are too.

I was a mature student & my spelling was/is so bad the spell check frequently had nervous breakdowns - so I use to write my essays with - ahem- a thesaurus (spellchecked) behind the screen as well 😀

Hahaha yep been there done that. I was doing an open university degree (bachelor of science with hons) and to make matters worse my business was, get ready, website design 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Strangely though, I could write a web page in actual script better than I could type a letter.

My brain is definitely wired up differently.

Good job I’m a, [whispers], secret agent now. All I have to do is drive fast, shoot guns and look cool. I got the driving fast part ok though…

Part of my degree was psychology can you imagine how much fun I had with conditions, drugs ect I practiced spelling of relevant words in a reporters note book - & there was a lot of them 😀
