Hello, My name is Vickie. I was born in New Zealand but have lived in both England and New Zealand over my life time. Your very lucky in Britain to have an excellant health service for rare diseases like childhood liver disease and even adult liver disease. Although we have had a liver transplant centre

Knocked for Six and Fed Up
Feeling a bit punchdrunk. I got the letter this morning turning me down for a blue badge. My partner is furious and is railing against the criteria they cited in making the decision. He knows how difficult it is for me to be on my feet when out and about. I take so many painkillers it's a wonder

Am going to need a fair old bit of support. I've lived with this condition unwittingly since 1997, managing the original RA diagnosis as well as I could. I'm a big girl. Have been for years. Clinically obese. It has shaped medical attitudes towards me and it took the medics 10 yrs to finally

Merendino jejunal interposition for T1 only cancer. What is it? A report back. This may help you to make a decision before an op.
I had this op 2 months ago and as its a fairly rare op and as my surgeon said 'adventurous', I was asked to keep the OPA informed......this is for early cancer only. I hope yours is. I was lucky they found T1 at the oesophagal and stomach junction & barretts but had to have it removed. The option

Oh my word!
Saw a new Professor yesterday who offered me a stomach bypass and said that it would reduce my exacerbations of asthma and reduce my admissions!. He said that a valve is faulty and is allowing acid into my lungs! So on Tues i am having cells taken from my lungs and then being started on Lansoprazole

HELP me make the decision re dumping or reflux.
I have sent previous comments so this is a follow up. I can have a jejunal interposition with 50% stomach with reflux issues OR the Roux on Y with no stomach and no reflux but there will be dumping. My op is next monday and I must decide. The question is how long does dumping last? For ever, goes

Everything fine post Oesophagectomy in 2004 but recently having swallowing problems again with reflux. A Roux-En-Y op. was mentioned.
Had the Oesophagectomy done back in 2004 for Achalasia. Then i remained generally problem free. It is only in the last 11 months that my old swallowing and reflux problems are recurring. I have had to have 2 dilatations in recent months. The surgeon mentioned my having a Roux-En-Y operation in the near

ROUX-EN-Y . Comments please.
At the OPA meeting on saturday in London, somebody said they had had a Roux-en-Y done. I wanted to speak to him but whilst chatting to somebody else he left. He said he does not get reflux. Can anybody else confirm this or not. I have this option in a few weeks when I'm have 'the op' and
