Medication Interaction?
Help! I need to take antiviral medication long term and I need to take it three times a day. I asked my doctor if I can take acyclovir along with thyroid meds and he said YES. When I asked the pharmacist, they said NO. What should I do? Please help!

Stem cell transplant for Myelofibrosis
After 12 years with PV and then 2 years with MF I explained in a letter to my consultant that were the decision to have a transplant entirely mine it is what I would wish for. I'd been on Jakavi for a year and it had ceased to help. I then went onto the Pacritinib trial which curtailed night sweats

Hello everyone! I return to this blog as one of my last resorts. 7 months ago I had unprotected oral sex. All STIs tests are negative. All the candida tests I did so far (at least 6) are negative. Pharyngeal exudates and nasal exudates came back negative. Blood tests are normal. After more than half

Second bout of VM?
I contracted viral meningitis caused by HSV 2 in April 2019. Luckily was only in hospital a couple of days and was able to go home once they got the headaches and pain under control. I was sent home and instructed to take almost 3 grams of Acyclovir for 10 days. After the 10 days my primary care dr

Shingles always a concern with CLL
One of the things I learned is that with CLL shingles is always a concern. Shingles are usually painful little blisters that occur in a dermatomal pattern (one side) of your body. They have been described as looking like “dew drops on rose petals” or vesicles on a red base. Anyway my shingles may have

Someone asked about Low Dose Naltrexone.
I thought I would post this on main site so that people can read. I have an unusual journey. I have been on LDN for about 2 weeks now. I am not sure if it has helped but I think that perhaps it is along with the other things I am trying. I developed disabling PMR in late March of this year (2019).

Herpes & IVF - help!
Hello lovely ladies, An ex-boyfriend gave me herpes 15 years ago. I still shudder to think about it. The outbreaks have lessened over the years, but now I am doing IVF I am getting constant outbreaks - before egg collection and transfer. This is incredibly stressful. As if IVF wasn't hard enough..

Ibrutinib / Venetoclax journey
So, a quick update from me. Went for a checkup yesterday (Friday). Consultant pleased with status, Lymphocytes have reached the lofty heights of 1.1. The reading has moved around the 0.7-1.0 since start of treatment. This was only a ‘normal’ checkup. Back in July for my checkup in the research dept

60mg Pred and outbreak of Herpes Simplex
Herpes simplex break out on buttocks after starting 60mg pred for GCA I have had PMR or over a year but wanted to do it ‘my way’. Ibuprofen 200mg twice daily. In March 2019 had 4 episodes of Curtain drawn across one eye for a few minutes. That converted me to the followers of pred. Most amazing experience

Ibrutinib advice please
As a CLL patient I am now going to start Ibrutinib next week & have been told I will be prescribed Aciclovir as well. I was prescribed this short term when I had chemo but have never had shingles. I know shingles is horrible but I think the risk is quite low so I should be interested to hear from others

Anyone with symptoms like mine?
It started with high fever, a recurring headache and red welts across my chest. I hate being ill - and hospitals - so begrudgingly went to the local hospital with my wife only to be told I had shingles and should be put in a ward immediately. However, that hospital did not a full-time skin doctor
