Shingles
Two weeks ago was diagnosed with shingles, now I,m kicking on a bit so I suppose it could be expected. Doctor prescribed a course of aciclovir. Pain unbearable so now been put on pregabalin which at first seem ok. Worried that I could be the 1 in 4 that gets PHN.. Anybody suffered with this...

Hello! My father is a CKD patient and unfortunately just had Herpes(eyelid & scalp). Acyclovir was prescribed. Is it safe for him?
The dermatologist prescribed the meds and asked to further check with the Nephrologist. However, if my dad only uses the cream, would it work?

Neck pain?
I am a PMR sufferer who weaned off Prednisone 3 weeks ago, after a slow march down from 40 mg. Two weeks ago I awoke with left-sided facial paralysis, diagnosed as unrelated Bell’s palsy. It’s not serious, and goes away in a few months for 85% of its victims. Treatment is high dose Acyclovir (anti-viral

Can taking Bactrim make you neutropenic?
My husband has been on Ibrutinib for 2 years now, and has taking Bactrim and Acyclovir along with it. Up until four months ago, his numbers have been in the more normal range. He feels well, and had a good CT scan in June. But in the last month his WBC, neutrophils and platelets have fallen drastically

Shingles
I have had an attack of shingles on my thorax, treated with acyclovir. It started 2 weeks ago. The spots have all cleared, although the skin is quite tender still. But I feel really tired and unwell, which I wasn’t expecting 2 weeks on. I keep wondering if this is only the CLL or whether I should start

Stopping Ibrutinib?
Husband has been on Ibrutinib for 2 years and numbers were good until about 4 months when his WBC and Neutrophils dropped dramatically. WBC is now 2.2 and neutrophils are .8. Doctor suspended his meds for a week because he is concerned about COVID-19. I am worried that the CLL will roar back. He will

Starting Acalabrutinib
Due to start Acalabrutinib on Friday. Has anyone any advice as to whether to take it with food or away from food? Also, there are other drugs that I'm supposed to take too - Aciclovir, Allopurinol, Co-TrimOxazole. What puzzles me is, if there are any side-effects, how to the docs know which drug is

Post Viral Fatigue Syndrome
I was DX with VM in June of 2019 & again in August 2019. With test results, my dr could not determine if my numbers were still coming down or starting to climb back up. So he started a second round of the IV antiviral Acyclovir. I have been having Severe health issues ever since my first DX (I.e.;

Acyclovir and kidney transplant
A few weeks ago I had shingles. I was put on acyclovir 800mg 5x a day. Then, from different doctors, they kept telling me that's a high dose for a kidney transplant patient as it can damage it. I spoke to my nephrologist and he didnt seem concerned at all and told me to take them as prescribed by my

CLL & the Corona virus
I have been on the FLAIR drug trials for five years, taking Ibrutinib, plus Co-Trimoxazole and Aciclovir. My blood cancer has gone into remission, but there are still enough bad cells for me to continue on the drugs. Recently I developed a dry cough and inflamed vocal cords. The GP put me on penicillin

Alternative diagnosis that I want to throw out the window
I had encephalitis in December 2019. I can safely say I was the sickest I have ever been. There are 3 days I still cannot remember much about. I had confusion, slurred speech, headache, light sensitivity, noise sensitivity and nausea. Oh and I couldn't walk for falling over. I had 2 weeks of IV acyclovir

Tapering again.
Hello to all you lovely people who have helped me over the last week. Things have now progressed further and this morning I noticed a rash where the pain had been. A visit to the doctor confirmed my suspicion of shingles. So I think I did have a PMR flare but I now also have shingles. Life is such fun

ITP and shingles
If you've had ITP, can you take acyclovir? As having been given these for shingles, but knowing that they lower your immune system,? Cheers

Shingles antivirals vs infections and reduced immunity
First, happy new year (if this is new year for you :-) As well as being in watch and wait with my CLL, I am recovering from shingles (which i’ve never before had) during a period where I am also successfully (so far) coming off treatment for autoimmune haemolytic anaemia with a low maintenance dose

Recent Encephalitis - now recovering and looking for hope.
I have just finished my 2 weeks treatment of Acyclovir for Viral Encephalitis caused by the Herpes Zoster virus. Had CT, LP and MRI. Brain MRI was grossly abnormal and showed lesions. I lost 3 days when I was taken into A&E - Cannot remember any of it. It feels like it happened to someone else, not

Plagued by herpes
I’ve been plagued by frequent recurrent cold sores unless I stay on acyclovir prophylaxis and now I think it’s moved from my lip to my nose and eyes. Anyone else experience this or have any words of wisdom for me??

Shingles and CKD
Well, isn't this just dandy.... I have shingles. I woke up the other day and I had two areas of redness. I thought it was just my psoriasis blooming since I was due for an infusion. Then the pain started to hit me and I thought, "sheesh is a tooth going bad?" Nope it was the shingles and nephropathy
