Could this be a fungal infection ?

Hi , I've had this on my face since January. Firstly I went to a pharmacy and they said it's a cold sore and gave me zovirax and Aciclovir. 2-3 weeks later I went to the walk in clinic and I've been told is eczema and was given eumovate Then another 2-3 weeks later I went to a private dermatologist and she said shes not sure if its eczema or psoriasis and prescribed hydromol and Hydrocortisone another two/three weeks later went to see my GP and he said is fungal infection and prescribed Daktacort.

It's been now more than two weeks and this 'thing' has still not disappeared. I actually think is getting worse and bigger.

Has anyone gone through something like this ? Any ideas what I can do or use next ?

What I used already:

- Zovirax

- Aciclovir

- Eumovate

- Hydrocortisone

- Hydromol

- Daktacort

Thank you very much

I had something similar to this on my hands, feet, and legs that was itchy. I believe that it is fungal related (as I have a history of fungal infections). Mine was itchy and one dermatologst thought it could be Scabies at first, but sliced some skin and under magnification confirmed it was not Scabies. He ultimately said it was Allergic Contact Dermatitis, which is laughable since I am homebound and have not used any different products in years. He prescibed me Clobetasol Gel, which is a corticosteriod. I got the prescription, but found that Neem Oil (which you can buy from Amazon) was more effective in clearing it up. It took about four weeks to clear it up, but it lasted about ten weeks total.

Thanks a lot for your advice. Mine is not itchy at all. I'm going to go to get a blood test and ask my gp for a referral to try and find out what this is. I'll definitely look into getting that oil , I'll literally try anything just to get rid of it.

Thanks a lot x

Hi I was just curious if you ever figured out what your rash was? I have the exact same thing!! Exact same spot too! I’ve had it for almost 5 months and have also tried almost EVERYTHING- please help!

Hi Luckly I got rid of it after having it for 6 months.

None of the creams that I was prescribed worked and I went to both public and private doctors. I actually think that my dentist cured it !! I had a really bad tooth infection and needed re-root canal treatment which cost me £700 😭😞

He prescribed me some antibiotics (amoxicillin) and that horrible thing disappeared within 2 days of me taking the antibiotics.

Your best plan is to return to your dermatologist for further advice. This could be any one of a number of things and the only way to be sure which it is is to carry out diagnostic tests.

Hi there..i just want to ask.is it removed now?

You definitely want to look up Perioral Dermatitis. They're not sure what it is exactly but you can find lots of natural remedies online to try and heal it. It happens around your mouth on your chin and sometimes around your eyes. It is a pain in the butt to get rid of and definitely do not use any more cortisone cream. If your dermatologist doesn't know what it is and you probably should find a different dermatologist. Sometimes I just skip the doctor altogether because they just make it worse. Just saying.

I look exactly the same way. My face, shoulders, and forearms are all covered and there's a couple spots on my legs. I have a fungal disease called histoplasmosis and went 2 years getting thrown to every doctor and specialist with no diagnosis and I was miserable. I finally got in to see a surgeon and he removed a lymph node and sent it off to be tested. I'm from PA so it's a very rare condition for people in my area

Very painful and itchy red round patches covering me

It came back !!😭😭😭 after 2 years it came back. This time around my nose.GP gave me a cream that made it worse and burned my face.

I'm oing to try and ask for antibiotics as this is what helped last time.

I have the exact same thing on my face 🙁 I’ve had it for almost 4 months now. I thought maybe it was caused by constantly wearing a mask during my 12 hour shifts…

It might be something to do with wearing the mask. I have not really worn the masks as I don't go out anywhere so mine it's definitely not form wearing it.Have you been to the doctors ? If yes , what did they say and have they prescribed you any medication?

I had so many creams, gels etc. Which were unsuccessful so I'm looking to see of theres any other ones I could get.

Thank you and good luck in trying to get rid of it !! Pleaseet t me know if you find any solution ! 😊

Dar ALL use ASEA REDOX GEL called RENU 28- it will heal ALL skin issues - fungal or otherwise very quickly . Have had all kinds of fungal related skin outbreaks from a property exposure and suffered a lot but all cleared up in days of using. That combined with an antifungal if needed by this gel is anti bacterial and anti fungal and helps repair rapidly. Can find support groups on Facebook. Incredible results. Hope that helps.

Thank you I will order it now and see what happens ! So far nothing's helping. Its getting bigger and its spreading to other areas on my face and its starting to itch. 😭😭😭

in reply toAnndz

That’s brilliant info from Saraj747 but if that doesn’t work there’s a chance it could be caused by staph aureus. It’s a bacteria we all carry around without problems but if you’re a bit low it can affect you eg by causing a vesicular rash. Zooming in, your rash looks vesicular. The best antibiotic for staph aureus is flucloxacillin but amoxicillin can work too. So I’m wondering if this could be why amoxil worked last time. Just a thought to bear in mind x

Hi , I've tried another 10 different creams/gels + all the above suggestions and nothing helped.Called the gp every week to ask for something else hoping that he will give me antibiotics but they all said NO and carried on giving me more creams, I felt like Guinea pig.

Anyway, I managed to sort out Duomax antibiotics and it's all disappeared. Yaaay😁

I had it for almost 4 months 😩😩😩
