Next Steps after Cabazitaxel and Xtandi
I was diagnosed in May of 2016, PSA 16 and Gleason 9/10. The cancer metastasized to 3 bones at that time and I underwent aggressive treatment at NIH with Docetaxel and PROSTVAC along with Lupron. When the PSA started rising again after 18 months, I switched to Standard of Care at home with Xtandi and

Monthly co-pay costs for Firmagon/Degarelix shots on Medicare Advantage vs Regular Medicare USA?
I start monthly Firmagon injections (2-3 years estimated) next week and my Medicare advantage program just informed me that the monthly co-pay for this drug will be $429 ($5148/year). I was under the impression that drugs administered by a doctor didn't fall under drugs but treatment...and therefore

Rare bone disease
My son has suffered some
fractures
before weight baring age. He had a genetic test for osteogenesis imperfecta and came back with 2 variants of uncertain significance in LRP5 gene and P4HB gene. His dad and I were both tested for those genes and we carry one each.

Hey has anyone else suffered a broken toe and multiple open fractures before? What’s the rehab like will I ever get back out running?
Completed the C25k a few months back and got the buzz only for me to be stopped by an accident and having to have surgery on numerous
fractures
and have nail beds rebuilt 1 week today actually. Trying to stay positive but I’m wondering what my comeback will be like?

different ADT medications
Is there any known difference between the various ADT injection meds in terms of efficacy and side effects? My dad's new oncologist is switching him from Lupron to Trelstar, not sure why. Just haven't seen that name come up too often on this site. Thanks

NTU Singapore scientists devise 'Trojan horse' approach to kill cancer cells without using drugs

L-phenylalanine is known as an 'essential' amino acid as it cannot be made by the body and must

Lomotil works better for me
Loperamide has not worked for me at all but my problems have been episodic, not chronic. Lomotil stops it dead in less than a day but is, of course, and opiate requiring a prescription in the US.

Reducing from 15mg to 10mg
My rheumy wants me off Pred' completely on the basis that the initial high dose of 60mg caused a lot of damage, I have Osteoporosis, compression
fractures
of T4/L4 and other issues but I cannot figure out why the above should be attributed to the use of pred' However my question is this, should I comply

Hip problems.
I also have four
fractures
in my pelvis which don't cause any problems. My pelvis is tilted to the left quite a bit and so now I am 3cm. (approx. 1and1/4"). Causes me to limp. Also affects my right foot to turn out and slide sideways. Not as bad as it sounds but I don't want it to get worse.

Friday round-up
On a personal level, my sister had her op on Monday, and although she's still in pain of course, it's less now that her
fractures
have been reduced, and my nieces are caring for their dad, so everything's under partial control for now anyway. That's the thing with crises.

How long after ceasing Prolia are we at risk of fragility fractures before osteoclast and osteonlast activity returns to normal if st all?
Bam- after 6 months- multiple vertebral fragility
fractures
! I have gone from being extremely active to being ( what feels like) a disabled geriatric. Does this time pass with massive bone break down? Surely the answer is not to go back on drug forever and hope for best?

Next Steps? Radium 223 or Jevanta (Cabazitaxel) - HELP - NEED ADVICE.
My friend is 56. Already gone thru Chemo (docetaxal), provenge, zytiga and xandi. MO wants him to start chemo which he doesnt want to do (again) and wants to know thoughts from others. Success (O.S) statistics with Radium 223? Running out of options. His PSA is rising but still low at .7 and imaging

Update 2: Chemo (docetaxel) + hormonotherapy
Hi everyone, So, last Friday, 9/11, my father did a blood collection and a bone scan (scintigrapgy). In the previous week, he had a CT scan (we still don't know the results). My father had scheduled another appointment with his oncologist for tomorrow. She called him today to communicate that there

Advice on ankle support/brace please
Had facial xrays and no
fractures
. However, even though I've still got constant headaches, it's my ankle that's still giving problems. The bruising (which covered the entire outside of my foot and across the front to my toes) is fading and the swelling is easing, but it's still painful to touch.

GCA patient, with tapering issues after 4 years
I have been getting more mobile, and pushing it too much after recovering from 3 compression
fractures
and kyphoplasties to fix them. I went out on a very hot day for 3 hours, and then stayed up in wheelchair additional 6 hours. Unfortunately the flareup was very painful!!
