It's a week since my fall and I'm still not back yet. Had facial xrays and no fractures. However, even though I've still got constant headaches, it's my ankle that's still giving problems. The bruising (which covered the entire outside of my foot and across the front to my toes) is fading and the swelling is easing, but it's still painful to touch. It's most painful when I move my foot side to side rather than up and down. I ended up putting my running shoes on the other day and that eased it a bit. So I'm looking at getting some kind of brace/compression support. Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thank you 👍

It required me admitting my lack of knowledge and deciding to see a physio to get to the other side of my injury. If you're not seeing any improvement by Monday, I'd suggest you consider seeing one.
Whilst I know the ankle/shin would have eventually healed on its own, her identifying the problems and doing deep massage on the ligaments and tendons to prevent scar tissue forming will have long term benefits over just leaving it.
Hi I sprained my ankle over a year ago and it took some time to heal .. my dr advised to rest it ice etc and no support for it however when it didn’t get better I went to a physio and she said she couldn’t believe my dr had said no support required... she taped it up and suggested I buy a support for it and the relief was instant and I feel this helped a lot. Mine was a pretty bad sprain though so not sure if this is the same as your injury but The physio was definetley what helped my injury to heal and I just bought a support off amazon .
So much soft tissue there. I fell down stairs at home last year and had an open ankle fracture and soft tissue damage. It's been a huge achievement for this extremely unfit 52 year old to start this, and I was nervous of my ankle but it's been fine. Seeing a physio might be a good shout, even just for advice. My next challenge is completing week 9 (next week) and shifting some weight! Good luck and hope your ankle is ok
Hi, sorry to hear about your fall. When I hurt my ankle I bought an aircast A60 ankle brace on the recommendation of a friend who has used one since he badly sprained his ankle. I haven’t run in it. I just used it for walking whilst my ankle was getting stronger. It was very comfortable.
