I have osteoporosis and I took
Fosamax
for a while and then lost 6 teeth! I stopped taking it a while ago, but my back is giving me grief now. I am taking calcium and Vitamin D, but I need to find out whether there are any alternatives to alendronic acid.

Prolia instead of Fosamax
My Rheumy put me on
Fosamax
3 weeks ago and I have not tolerated it very well. The runs, nausea, and my blurry eyes have gotten even worse. He told me to stop the
Fosamax
and instead wants me to take Prolia shots every 6 months. I have a Dexascan scheduled for next week.

thoughts, suggestions, experiences - prolia followed by forteo, endo said
he didn't did mention
fosamax
but went on to forteo. i wonder if part of the reasoning is because a fracture qualifies a patient for health dept subsidy ? he said it's new, but i'm reading it's been approved since 1987? is it good to
do the switch to forteo
?

Fosamax (Alendronate) Question
If my T-scores don't change, even after such high doses of PRED, wouldn't that mean that I might not need to be on
Fosamax
? BTW, he said that if I didn't like
fosamax
he could prescribe Prolia shots. When I looked up Prolia shots, I said to myself "uh, I'm not sure I can trust this rheumy."

Mum on prolia 6 years, was going ok. Then over the past 3 years has had 3 teeth extracted. Upper mandible
Maybe
fosamax
, from my reading. She might be a bit 'scared' to ask drs, in case they're offended.

AFTER FORTEO
Has anyone taken
Fosamax
after Forteo with good results instead of going on Prolia? Also, has anyone taken Prolia and not have side effects? all we hear are the horror stories, there must be some good stories. Is it because people who are doing well don’t go on the website?

Has anyone had positive results, low side effects with Foxamax?
I have seen/heard many folks say no notable improvement with any of them, my Mom only got worse on
Fosamax
. These drugs make no sense to me as they do not allow normal bone growth....so is there anyone with positive results?

The risk of doing nothing
She was diagnosed with osteoporosis many years ago started
Fosamax
and because of some side effects stopped taking the medication. I spoke to her recently about her osteoporosis and she told me that she was 5‘4“ in her prime and she now is 4 foot 11.

Alendronate(Fosamax) total lifetime years
I am a 74 year old woman with osteoporosis. I have taken 1 prolia shot 6 months ago and am scheduled for the second shot Oct. 10. I don't wish to continue on Prolia because I believe it is affecting my immune system. I can't take zoledronic acid because of kidney disease (CKD3a). Alendronate weekly

Hi, I have gone down from 400x2 carbamazepine and topiramate/topamax 150x2, to only taking carbamazepine. I have been taking folic acid for 7 months. We have now started trying. Only having small convulsions for 15-20 sec at night time. used to have gran mal attacks and haven't found other medications

How to resolve esophageal symptoms from fosamax?
Hello, I've been taking
fosamax
(70 mg once a week ) for about 18 months. I've been very careful to follow instructions(take with lots up water, sit straight or stand up for at least 30 minutes). I've recently developed a strange esophageal soreness I've never had before and am pretty concerned.

Discontinuing Prolia
When I suggested
Fosamax
until I was past the time when I made might experience reversal bone loss due to PROLIA she said it wouldn’t be any different than taking the PROLIA., the possible side affects were the same. She did prescribe
Fosamax
which I asked for but I felt she wasn’t happy about it.

Tooth Turned Gray
with
fosamax
, which I've been taking. So...I'm asking y'all. Probably this is just another fun feature of getting old that also is kind of unique to me with respect to my family, so I just don't know. Yes, I will be calling my dentist today.

Improving Bone Density with diet and exercise – the story continues.
As background, I can say a very bad reaction to a single
Fosamax
pill, prescribed in May 2021, prompted me to eschew the pharma option and try something more natural. The results speak for themselves. I have never felt so healthy. I am now 59 years old, I weigh 54 kg and I am 162 cm tall. Date.

Fosamax???
I have a T score in my hip of -2.9, and my doctor wants to put me on
Fosamax
. I'm 67, also have Parkinson's, so she's concerned I'm a higher fall risk than most. I've read a lot on
Fosamax
, and it gives me the heebie-jeebies! Any thoughts? Anyone taking it and for how long?

Does anyone have experience with alternatives to Fosamax? And what side effects do these other treatments bring?

How long before CTx stabilises after stopping Prolia and relay med?
I've been off Prolia for 3.5 years (missed injection due Mar 2020) and stopped the relay bisphosphonate (Actonel with a few months on
Fosamax
) In Sep 2022. At that stage, my CTx was 410ng/L. I didn't have my CTx tested again until 7 Aug 2023, a year later, and found it was very high at 990ng/L.
