Decision to medicate
He was 8 and we had him on
Focalin
xr and it made a big difference for him. It was still him but slowed down to where he could better regulate his emotions and move past things. Unfortunately we stopped due to his appetite.

Medication for impulse and regulating emotions
Focalin
really helped mellow him out his reactions so I am hoping his pediatrician will switch it to that. If not, I am going to have to find a pediatric psychiatrist. Sorry if this post is all over the place.

Tics with Stimulant Medication
He’s currently on
Focalin
immediate release and has been for about 1 year. When he was in kindergarten (and before he was medicated) he had a throat clearing tick which lasted about 2 months then went away.

ADHD Medication Costs
Last month the Guanfacine was $25.50 and this month it is $47 and
Focalin
XR (generic formula) was $148 and now $120. Same dosage. Same count. We have private insurance and we haven't met our $3000 deductible yet, so it shouldn't be insurance-related adjustments.

Anger issues/ explosive outbursts
He currently takes Metadate CD,
Focalin
for afternoon and evening boosters, Prozac, Abilify. Recently he started intuniv….. We are struggling with his intense outburst of anger when he’s mad. Usually triggered by homework, not getting what he wants or he’ll just be in a “mood”.

Finally starting medication--what now?
Now she prescribed me
focalin
(dexmethylphenidate). My last year of highschool I was on Concerta xr (methylphenidate). It helped, but took a high dose to do so, which sometimes ended up too much.

Hi I'm new here. How can I help my son?
He is on meds
Focalin
xr. Some of his behaviors I cannot comprehend or understand his motives or what he gets out of it. We live with my parents who have their own beliefs about how i should discipline my son.

Dealing with a 6yo with EXTREME behavior disorders
We had him on
Focalin
XR for about 2 years and have now switched him to Vyvanse 20mg as well as Guanfacine 2mg. I can't even accurately put into words what we are dealing with. Every moment is a struggle with him. He has no self-control and is extremely impulsive.

Need Suggestions for Improving Sleep Behavior
Current medications include
Focalin
XR in the AM and Prozac. At bedtime, we give Melatonin and he began taking Clonidine XR about a month ago. This addition has really helped him to sleep soundly most nights and now he "sleeps in" on the weekends, rather than being up by 5-6am.

another focalin question
my 13 yo daughter takes 7.5 mg in the morning and has been mentioning lots of "jitters." her focus and concentration has improved immensely but the jitters are both distracting and concerning. her psychiatrist actually ordered an EKG which did come back normal. any thoughts or experiences would be greatly

Cobalin H
I have been self injecting ‘Cobalin H ‘ brand of Hydroxocobalamin for years because I get a reaction at the injection site using generics. Unfortunately chemists in England are out of stock. Does anyone know where I can get it with a prescription or privately. Thanks, David

Vitamin B12
He does take a short acting
Focalin
most days which also help. Other natural supplements we use are high EPA/DPA fish oil, Zahler’s CalmKids, Zahler’s Active Kid (not daily as he doesn’t like the taste), and zinc.

Adhansia Side Effects
My son was just prescribed this medication due to unwanted side effects with adderall and
focalin
(tearful, irritable, loss of appetite). I will try the meds when we are home all day first to monitor, but would love to hear other’s experience with this.

New to the group
We began the generic form of
Focalin
about 4 months ago, and it seems as though it's no longer working. I'm definitely here for advice and to know that we're not in this alone. It feels as though no one knows what we're going through.
