paradoxical broncospasm
I've been on seretide for about 3 months now, but have only recently noticed that I get some paradoxical broncospasm when taking it. I take 2 puffs, twice a day with a spacer. My peak flow before taking it at the moment, is in the region on 510-540, within 10 mins of taking the seretide my reading drop

how to avoid colds/viruses?!?
I know its a bit of an impossible question, its just its become very apparent that my biggest triggers are colds and viruses. My asthma is reasonably well controlled, but the minute I have a cold or virus my asthma spirals downhill, my peak flow drops, I wake at night, have symptoms most of the day and

Rant-Very Frustrated-When to end Taper?
So I've been trying (#4) to taper the prednisone. At the beginning of the month after I got out of the hospital I felt really good by any measure: peak flow, energy level, cough gone, etc. etc. but by day six things started going backwards and with some minor noise have gone down down down. I'm now

Brittle type 2 - is this a life sentence??
Well as it says really. After months of being up and down, seeming to get under some sort of control (albeit on silly amounts of medication) then everything falling apart in no time at all - sometimes minutes - I've been told my asthma is brittle, and while it doesn't 100% fit the type 2 classification

what device can measure lung function for COPD alone?
as some one to new to this situation, when I was given a "peak flow" meter by my GP, I assumed that it was for measuring how I was doing with my COPD. From what I am reading on the blog, it seems that it is for asthma alone....and not COPD? Flip, but stuff gets very confusing just when it would be a

Treatment for Night Time Symptoms
Hi, After three months of fairly well controlled asthma (which I haven't had for years) I have been having severe nocturnal symptoms for nearly two weeks. This coincides with changing my inhalers after a hospital appointment, a weekend of bad hay fever and a possible virus (I teach 6 year olds and they

Hi all No doubt you'll have seen similar posts hundreds of times, so sorry for being a bore, and for writing a bit of an essay! I'm in my early 30s, and when I was a teenager I apparently had asthma when I got bronchitis a couple of times. Or so I thought.... Since my early 20s, at the change of

advice sought for 6 year old daughter
I normally post on here for myself, but this time I'd like advice for my daughter . I took her to the gp this evening because for the last 3 weeks she's had a cough. When she wakes in a morning its a chesty phlegmy cough, but as the day progresses it 'whistles' when she coughs ( like Wheezer on toy story

A flare or just 'symptoms'?
At the beginning of April I swallowed my last 1mg of pred, having started on 30mg for a flare of CSS that began February 2012. Within a week I was experiencing breathing problems and my peak flow was dropping. This week I have been having lots of joint pain which is something I haven't had for years.
