Here we go!
Just had a call from a locum doctor from our surgery as I'd asked for a replacement inhaler. She started by saying that I was overdue a medication review (basically surgery only offers telephone diagnosis) so we could do it over the 'phone. Did I have a blood pressure reader and a peak flow meter? If

Asthma nurse, long term medication
Hi all hope you’re doing well. Been for my first appointment with the asthma nurse to check inhaler technique etc, she was very nice. The way she way talking was that she classed me as having a diagnosis of asthma and asked about symptoms/triggers. She read that the gp had suspected it a few weeks ago

Can certain food effect breathing?? Weird flutter feeling
Since Monday afternoon I have been getting palpitations/flutters in my chest and throat. More so when I lay down, peak flow and oxygen was ok. Some people say certain foods a cause this, it’s really hard to describe the feeling. Almost like there is a butterfly flying around my chest and in my throat

Feeling low after time in hospital
Evening all, I came out of hospital a week ago after 5 days in with asthma exacerbation and unidentified infection. I've got a nebuliser on loan for a few weeks and was needing fewer nebs day by day, until Sunday when they started going up again (and peak flow down). I was supposed to have a follow

Pains in upper back
I have been having slight pain in my upper back and front of my chest, but other wise feel well. I have been taking more of my ventolin as finding chest feeling a bit tight, checked my peak flow and that's fine. Unable to get in touch with Dr's as they have problems with staff and covid.

Fostair problems after 7/8 weeks?
Hi just wondered if anyone had a similar experience on the pink Fostair inhaler. My asthma has always been ok, I never used a daily preventative just took my blue inhaler before sports and would need it occasionally during high allergy season. My peak flow has always been high (700+) and remains high

Brown inhaler causing anxiety?
Hello all! In summary; I was diagnosed in July after doing monitoring my Peak Flow for a fortnight (nurse said results over 20% was an asthma diagnosis. Mine was 43%!) I do feel it's a mild case, and that perhaps it's exacerbated by disordered breathing. I digress! I've been sporadic with taking

Hi 👋 I am new and have left an intro thread. I am also newly diagnosed. Thank to those who kindly replied to my thread. I am using an app called PEFLog on my phone. Here is a screen shot of some of my readings for the club members here who are clued up.

Blocked from return to work w/ controlled asthma?
Hi, I know many people are worried about returning to work during the current situation because they are asthmatic, but I seem to have the opposite issue - my work medical unit blocked my return because I'm asthmatic, but my asthma is totally controlled and I take one inhalation of seretide accuhaler

Inhalers: what to take and when!
Hi everyone! Hope you are well and staying safe! This is more an infomercial for newbies to asthma than anything else! I know starting out it can be quite confusing as to what to take when, especially when it’s not been explained why, so thought I’d do a (hopefully) short post about it! INHALER DESIGN

Frustrated with GP
Hi, I’m hoping anyone can help or if anyone has had the same experience I’ve had asthma my whole life, no one else in my family has it so everything I’ve learnt about asthma is through my GP (asthma nurse). The past couple of months I have been struggling a bit with my asthma, I’ve been 3 times now this

Clenil making cough worse
Hi everyone, newbie here! Doctor thinks I may have cough variant asthma as I have an ongoing dry cough (bark) for years now... they always put it down to allergies as my peak flow didn’t indicate asthma, anyway they have now given me Clenil with a spacer which I have religiously taken for one week twice

Frustrated and apparently over medicated
I've just had a frustrating call with the respiratory consultant. In the 7 months since I caught covid I've had 3 courses of pred, vast quantities of ventolin, added montelukast, upped fostair from 2x100/6 to 8 x 200/6 a day and added uniphylin continus - my GP has been fantastic and over 5 months I'd

Bit of an update and a query
Hi all, hope you’re doing good. So I went to back to the GP after a week of prednisolone, peak flow diary and ventolin and he thinks from the steroids and ventolin helping me and the ups/downs of the peak flow that I may benefit from a preventer inhaler and to see an asthma nurse. He said I will need
