Lupron versus Degarelex (firmagon)
My MO started me with Degarelex (
firmagon
) saying that is was far superior to lupron as it was a larger molecule. I got less than 4 months of success with it before my psa which dropped to 0.15 started doubling every 2 weeks.

Question on initial ADT treatment
My urologist wants to start me on
Firmagon
on Tuesday. I'll be seeing a Radiation Oncologist but no date yet. Any concern if I start on
Firmagon
and then stop after a month once I have more test results and perhaps have surgery or radiation? Thanks.

I am a newbie on this site...
After about a year my PSA and testosterone levels started to rise again and was treated with
Firmagon
/Lupron injections. These injections controlled the the PSA/testosterone...until this year. My testosterone level remained unchanged and in check but my PSA has risen to 1.2.

Treatment developments
Since being diagnosed in December, I have been prescribed Aberiterone with presnisolone, monthly
Firmagon
injections and monthly bone infusion. The change from an initial PSA of 55 up to a high of 68 to a now 36 has taken 6 months with a few bumps along the way.

Best MO / Cancer Centres in Australia?
I was diagnosed in Feb 2018 and am on
Firmagon
monthly injections and have so far done 5 cycles of Docetaxel. One more to go in mid July. PSA has dropped from 168 to 0.8, testosterone is undetectable, liver enzymes are all in normal range. But my thoughts now turn to what should happen after chemo.

Husband Just Diagnosed
He is receiving
firmagon
, xgeva and has finished his 2nd round of docetaxal and neulasta one day after chemo. Chemo is giving him joint pains, tired and feeling of being unwell. He's still working and doing things around the house and yard work.

Completed Salvage Treatment
Last shot of
Firmagon
went in on Monday (total of 7 treatments) along with 40 IMRT sessions to the prostate bed. Hoping for a lengthy remission, but only time will tell.

"OLD" DRUG WORKS PRETTY GOOD
At the time I was on
Firmagon
, Xgeva, Zytiga and Olaparib simultaneously. Unfortunately, the main side effect for me was severe fatigue and I found myself taking longer and longer mid-day naps. I concluded that the way things were going I'd be gone by Christmas. So what to do?

Change of Life…Good-bye or Good Riddance to Sex?
Daily radiation and a double injection of a drug called
Firmagon
are changing my life in ways that I alone cannot. No more trips to the bath houses. No erections. Not much interest in sex at all.

PSA 209 originally 42 months ago now undetectable still
I was originally DX in November 2014 PSA 209 with pelvic bone mets and still have been able to stay at <0.02 42 months later with monthly injection of
Firmagon
and 50 MG of Casodex daily. I often wonder if switching to Zytiga or Xtanti instead of Casodex will extend my life.

A Perfect 10 on the Gleason Score...Lucky Me?
The next step for me is to switch to another drug called
Firmagon
. At least it’s a more fitting name than Eligard, which as I wrote before, sounds more like an exclusive line of men’s silk underpants or neon-colored jock straps. The mystery remains unsolved at this point.

Supplements and diet advise
I'm on monthly shots of
Firmagon
, zytiga and prednisolone and a bone infusion. The last couple of psa tests have flattened out at a scary 49, not rising but not falling. I've cut meat and dairy completely (only eating fish).

Zytiga after nearly four months
I'd say this has been relatively easy to tolerate, the side effects whether from this or from the
Firmagon
injection I receive monthly are hard to seperate but I have had the usual tiredness, muscle and bone aches, mood swings.
