Treatment developments

Since being diagnosed in December, I have been prescribed Aberiterone with presnisolone, monthly Firmagon injections and monthly bone infusion. The change from an initial PSA of 55 up to a high of 68 to a now 36 has taken 6 months with a few bumps along the way. I initially had an MRI, CT and Bone scan, and since have had a second Bone and CT scan. Progress has been slow.

I asked my specialist for a referral to the Royal Marsden in London as a few novel trials of interest were announced, I managed to secure an appointment for today. Looking into my initial scans, treatment programme and family history, they have recommended a WBMRI to understand what the current situation is, from this (if appropriate switch steroids to see if the alternative changes the efficacy of aberiterone). If this doesn't happen to go quickly onto Docetaxel.

It was mentioned that my cancer may not be responding to my drugs well as it could be hormone resistant. I had high hopes for the Aberiterone but this now looks unlikely.

Good luck with the treatment at Royal Marsden.

We all have an immune system, but the cancer is not seen as the enemy and if only this could be changed we would find that the immune system would defeat most cancers, so Marsden research seems to offer a lot.

The problem with cancer is that it mutates to defeat the RT, ADT, chemo, and these are too specific; the best treatment works on cancer because that is what it is, not because of the cancer's specific chemical nature. But the trouble with some immune therapy is that while it may attack the cancer, it also might attack healthy cells so the game is not over..........

Even the geniuses cannot ever understand all things. Stephen Hawking did not know all things about the Universe, and the full understanding of anything complex is almost impossible. Why does Existance exist? Stephen didn't answer that one, and of course when life evolved, it soon became obvious the working model could not give everlasting life and if it did, we would all procrastinate for ever, but probably the retirement age to qualify for pension would be raised to infinite years.

Oh how crowded the world would be if we all did not die. Just imagine the junk in the garage, and the never ending stream of marriages and divorces and court cases.

So if we argue for eternal life, how would be handle it?

I often see a pretty girl and think how nice if would be if I could be 25, not 71, but then she'd be delighted for only so long because she'd think I thought just like an old man. I am not married, so I have nobody to upset by my sickness, and can freely think about un-discussables, until I cannot.

I have just quit Zytiga, I got only 6 months, and now see the end coming at me with so many bone mets they can't be counted, and with Psa at only 7.

They mentioned this, so looks like it will happen soon.

I am confident you will recieve the best care with Dr. Del Bonos team at RM. I had heard about a possible response to abi switching prednisone for dexamethasone. Be sure to search how to mitigate docetaxol side effects on this site. I discussed some things I did in a previous post i. I wish you the best and please keep us posted, I would be excited to know what Royal Marsden is working on now.
