Dad is 90. Castrated resistant prostate cancer. Taking monthly shots of Firmagon. No symptoms. Feels good great appetite smart weight bp all great. Ct scan and bone scan negative but last 2 months PSA rising to now 20. Doctor -urologist-recommends PET scan and start Dad on Provegen. We are new to Prostate Cancer. Any suggestions on what next steps or questions to ask would be appreciated. Doc tells us w Provegen 2.5 years vs without Provegen 1.5 years.

This week I will get all the relevant reports on Dad and get 2nd opionion from oncologist. Thank you for your response.

You might want to consider locating an oncologist who specializes in prostate cancer and getting an appointment very, very soon.

Bill thank you Will do for my dad.

My mother is 90 also. She has stage 4 renal impairment, not in any pain, but not a good thing at any age. Do anything to make dad more comfortable , spoil him , love him, be there for him , that’s what we do for the most importatant people in our life’s ( our parents) The fact that you are reaching out here proves how much you value him. If possible spend as much time as much time as you can with dad.. peace to you and your family in these trying times. My mom says fiddlydi I’m 901/2 . 4.7 % of humans now live to 90. That’s a elite group of people.

Thank you lulu. My dear mom passed away suddenly last year. Dad and I are now joined at the hip. I’m blessed to still have him. He is an incredible story teller and I video tape some of his stories for keepsakes. He praises my cooking and tells me all the time he’s made it this far because of my help. We pray and thank God everyday for each day. Dad is looking to our annual family reunion in June. My parents have been supportive thru my own journey with a very rare cancer. I’m treated at Memorial Sloan Kettering in New York. Dad enjoys life and his 13 grand and great grandchildren. Today I’ll research the best for 2nd opionion and oncologist for Dad. I’ll keep you and your dear mom in my prayers.

Time? Of course it would be when a chinaman has to go to the dentist.

Tooth-hurty.

Good Luck and Good Health.
