Hopeful
In July I was given two injections of
Firmagon
and the pain in my lower abdomen disappeared within hours!!! One month later Lupron for three months and I started with Zytiga in September. PSA was 0.9 two weeks ago and I feel good, except for being fatigued.

Introduction and progress
PSA became detectable at 5 years when I have 2 months of
Firmagon
followed by several weeks of prostate bed irradiation after which my PSA was undetectable again for another 4-5 years. Erectile capability became less as time progressed and I had a penile implant placed which functions to this day.

Castration resistant after 20 months on ADT
I immediately started ADT with Eligard and
Firmagon
injections and a short stint on Casodex pills. PSA immediately dropped, but never stabilized, and bounced around from a low of .05 to 2.95. Now after 20 months on ADT, I have become castrate resistant with a PSA doubling time of 6 weeks.

Mid point in 3 prong treatment
LOL ADT (
Firmagon
and then Lupron; duration 4 mos thus far. No recommendation re length of ADT yet, probably 1-2 yrs...omg. Btw, ADT is devastating to me.) 25 IMRT sessions will end this wk. Woo-hoo. Fatigue and more frequent urination at night. No other side effects as of now. I'm lucky.

IMRT side effects?
After a one month trial on
Firmagon
, switched to Eligard. Good so far; better with latter than former. Supposed to start IMRT in a couple of wks. 25 sessions. Followed by brachytherapy. Reactions to these procedures? Dos? Don'ts. Short term side effects? Long term?

Lupron vs Firmagon
Firmagon
brought my PSA down from 550 to 10.9 in six months. My oncologist is now recommending switching to Lupron . Is this a good change?

Is my husbands treatment working?
He had a hormone shot the next day (
Firmagon
). In 4 weeks time his PSA was down to 274. He was then put on a 3 month depot shot of Eligard. After another month, his PSA was at 255. Zytiga was added a week later and his PSA was taken 2 weeks later and was at 237.

Night Thoughts
On
Firmagon
for 2 months and PSA 1, testosterone 21 and no pain now. Had CT and MRI and spine remains full of cancer. Uro wants me to start Taxotere ASAP and I still worry about cardiac risk.

External beam - your reaction?
Firmagon
and then Eligard/Lupron. Roller coaster ride of emotions for me. Interestingly enough, no impact (yet) on ED or sex drive. Go figure.

Eligard/Lupron
Uro wants to switch me from
Firmagon
(1 mo injections) to Eligrad/Lupron (6 mo injections). Pros? Cons? Side effects. Btw, "tolerated"
Firmagon
ok (site injection reaction, roller coaster ride of emotions - sadness/depression, no effect - yet - on libido or performance). Similar with Eligard??

Choice of Zytega vs chemotherapy
I have started
Firmagon
injections, 2 thus far and psa has dropped from 22 to 0.5 in 5 weeks. I had a second opinion at Yale/Smilow Cancer center today and the Dr. recommended switching to Lupron with a choice of chemo or Zytega.

Planned EBRT plan
Been on
Firmagon
for 3 months, PSA down to 0.44. Met with Radiation Oncologist yesterday and here's his treatment plan. 70-74 Gy, 23 sessions of 2.0 Gy to Prostate and Lymph Nodes and then 15 sessions of 2.0 Gy to Prostate alone. Thoughts on the plan. Thanks.

Switch from Firmagon to Zoladex
I've been on
Firmagon
for 3 months, PSA dropped from 38 to 0.44 ug/L and Testosterone down to 0.6 nmol/L. He would like my testosterone to be lower so is switching me to Casodex and Zoladex.

Uro recommended
Firmagon
, a 30 day lasting hormone. Injection site reaction - two injections of 120 mg each in belly - worse than I had read about or anticipated. Swelling, redness, sore/tender, warm to the touch, lumpy, covering about 4 fingers on each side of belly.
