Needing some input after gastroscope
Hi all: So I had a gastroscope yesterday and today I’m riddled with extreme fatigue. I’ve had a gastroscope before and never experienced such fatigue. The other times there was an anesthesiologist that gave me drugs to put me to sleep. This time an egotistic doctor informed me the procedure would be

Thyroid Education Day, Birmingham (Edgbaston), January 26th
https://www.thyroideducationday.com This is the first event of this kind. Is someone here from Thyroid U.K. or anyone else who is a member of this group attending? Seems vital a) to have someone to put our case there and b) to have a record of discussions and developments, for current and future

marshmallow root
After reading some answers to my previous post on Slippery Elm someone also mentioned marshmallow root so I looked it up. Would you believe it is also said to help with bladder issues. This being music to my ears as still having UTIs (putting this down to my thyroid levels being low and the long slow

Too much T3? One time. Does it make a difference?
Because of a change of dosage of liothyronine from 10 mcg 2 x daily plus 10mcg 1 x daily Mon, Wed, and Fri, To 20mcg 1 x daily and 10mcg 1 x daily, I was given a completely different brand. Originally given Roma capsules, then following dosage change, Mercury Pharma tablets as well as Roma capsules

What’s at the root of this awful anxiety?
I am experiencing intense anxiety, alongside insomnia. Last year, after a few months on T3, I eventually felt really well: best I’d felt for many years. Earlier this year the T3 was changed from Morningside tablets to Roma capsules. Slowly I went downhill. After a couple of months I had the T3 tablets

changing from Armour to levo
Hi all I take armour thyroid and have done for over 10 yrs now. I was originally prescribed this by a private doctor but further down the rd I found a way to buy Armour myself so I self medicate. I test my levels regularly (probably every 4-6 months) and I’ve felt in a good place for years. That’s

ATM gene mutation
I just received results from genetic testing that I have a ATM gene mutation. I am currently not on any meds and my last PSMA pet scan was negation. I am scheduled for a follow up PSA test mid march based on rising PSA after 5 years undetectable. Based on the ATM finding will this change any future therapy

The use of thyroid hormone liothyronine in patients with heart failure - Another Pearce-linked Trial
Fascinating seeing these words in the context of a medical trial:
The use of thyroid hormone liothyronine in patients with heart failure
Liothyronine (T3) is a safe tablet and has few side effects because it is a synthetic version of triiodothyronine, a naturally occurring hormone

Official trial for patients to stop their thyroxine for 6 weeks. Has anyone done this?
Have any members done this trial? This trial run by Newcastle Hospitals Trust ends in November 2024. It involves hypothyroid patients stopping their thyroxine for 6 weeks - to see how they felt when not taking thyroxine, and if they'd recommend a friend doing the same. ITT Improve Thyroid Treatment

Study
Apologies if I’m way behind and have missed a thread or two on this topic. Has anyone heard of the current study in Newcastle where patients stop their T4 for 6 weeks so doctors can see if they really need it?

Is there any correlation between low thyroid hormones & spinal stenosis
Hi, Just curious. Was just diagnosed with severe spinal stenosis. I believe it has been going on for years & reasons to believe possibly not acquired but congenital. I know thyroid issues do not cause it & if there is a congenital aspect to mine of course it is not the reason. But researching any links
