Low fT4 in early pregnancy

I recently had my thyroid results and my fT4 is very low 11.8 in an NHS blood test. FT3 was low but in range from my previous private full panel (in my bio). My Levothyroxine has already been increased from 100mg to 125mg in the last few weeks and this seemed to have brought my fT4 up from 10.5 to 11.8. T3 is at 40mg a day.

I wonder if taking that dose of T3 is having a suppression effect on fT4? Should I be worried that fT4 is low and out of range?

And if the moderators might have any advice to get my levels looking healthier as the NHS doctors are worried and urgently refering me to endochronology. I am concerned they will see what I am taking (T3 and LDN) and start meddling.

Thank you

Congratulations.

There is a tendency for most doctors to faint or scream when people taking any form of T3 get pregnant.

We moderators are only here to keep the forum smoothly functioning. We do not have any special expertise or training. Therefore, I suspect you will get answers from others who have trodden this path, or tried to, rather than moderators.

And, personally, no experience of T3.

I think you are selling yourselves short as you will see from previous posts I did get quite specific advice from moderators. To be more specific I guess I was asking if taking T3 has a specific suppression effect on fT4 levels. It's ok if you don't know personally. I was asking generally. In any case I did my own research and yes it does. It's just hard to know if my levels dropping from pre pregnancy 17pmol to 11 is solely a T3 suppression effect or impact of the heavy load of pregnancy on the thyroid. Ranges of fT4 are under 12.1 is out of range.

I am feeling ok symptom wise.. could have more energy but then I think I am pregnant and body is doing a lot. Such a minefield when you have to have answered for the doctors.

I know this is a T3 and LDN baby so I am standing my ground.

Hi Laura,

Congratulations.

You may want to edit your post to include to ranges and duration of change in dose as many will ask for these before making any suggestion.

Meanwhile, how are you feeling? That’s important to consider too.

congratulations Laura!

As T3 supplementation supresses T4 I would be looking at T3 levels. Mid-range would be an ideal to aim for from what i understand.

Good luck, i hope they don’t stress you out too much xx
