Statins
Prior to my (surprise) heart attack on 20th March I was on Simvastatin but after my procedure was put on Arorvastatin. My problem is that I cannot seem to increase my energy levels. I tried half an hour walking each day but after a week it seemed like my body had been unplugged and I was completely drained

Simvastatin
I am 76 years old and have taken Simvastatin 20mg and Amlodipine 5mg for 16 years, and Bendroflumethiazide 2.5mg for 5 years - prescribed due to elevated Systolic blood pressure only. The affects that may be caused by Simvastatin are muscle cramps in lower legs for 16 years that have increased over time

Anti-Androgen Abiraterone Acetate Improves the Therapeutic Efficacy of Statins on Castration-Resistant Prostate Cancer Cells.
New cell study [1] below. I have used Simvastatin for many years to try to prevent the production of cholesterol in PCa cells, & to otherwise limit access to circulating cholesterol. There appears to be synergy between statins & Zytiga (Abiraterone): "We determined that androgen biosynthesis inhibitors

48 hour monitor - heart rate peaks 170 bpm
I previously mentioned that I had a recent 48 hour monitor and the findings confirmed I was in AF for 30% of the time. I have no real symptoms other than finding it more tiring walking up inclines in the heat. My cardiologist has referred me to an EP to discuss an ablation but I am not that keen. I’

Simvastatin-induced erythromelalgia: less is more
This forum, Thyroid UK, is particularly aware of statins and their contra-indications. Furthermore, the whole cholesterol orthodoxy is questioned regularly. This case report is (rightly) explicitly critical of the handling of the woman and her diagnosis of erythromelalgia - rather, failure to diagnose

Statin Dilemma
Thank you to everyone who replied to my post. I had my telephone appointment with the Lipid Clinic. I did refuse the Simvastatin 10 mg once again. I do have an appointment booked with the GP in two weeks time, to discuss going forward. The thing to remember is of course that we are all so individual,

Statin Dilemma
I am a 61 year old woman; I was diagnosed with high cholesterol two and a half years ago. I had that appointment at the Lipid Clinic, and was advised to start a small dose of Statins, Simvastatin. At that time I refused to take the statins and was left to be reviewed at a later date. I was told that

Simvastatin delays CRPC metastasis and AR antagonist resistance by regulating the expression of caveolin‑1.
New cell study below [1]. "Cav‑1 [caveolin‑1] was overexpressed in CRPC. Furthermore, ... Cav‑1 expression in tumors was an independent risk factor for the occurrence of CRPC and was associated with a shorter recurrence‑free survival time in patients with CRPC." "Importantly, simvastatin was able to
