Clopidogrel and statins
I would think that's a question for your husbands medical team, there is no one here who is qualified to give medical advice. You could ask the BHF nurses tomorrow.
It might be worth you while ringing the Stroke Association as the use Clopidogrel post TIA or stroke is somewhat different to its use, say, post stents. If his cholesterol is well within the guidelines they might reduce it but a low level (say 10mg) maintenance dose is usually recommended for plaque stability and to reduce irritation the precursor to plaque formation.
Davjak, in our son’s experience with Clopidogrel and Statins following a clot to the brain 8 years ago, the answer is yes. The treatment is to try and prevent another stroke, and they like the cholesterol kept as low as possible - even if the cholesterol wasn’ raised at the time of the TIA. These facts were confirmed in an article by a prominent and well-known GP in the Press just a few days ago. It sounds as though your hubby has really helped himself and all good wishes that he remains well.
Compelling argument to say that the reason his Cholesterol and BP are low is because of the medication. As has been said, case specific medical advice cannot be given on this forum so contact your stroke nurses or book an appointment with your GP to discuss 😀
I had a TIA 2 years ago and a stent fitted a year ago, I am on Clopidogrel 75mg, Atorvastatin 20mg and Amlodipine 5mg. I think it will be for life.
