Test results, a penny for your thoughts?
Hello everyone, just had my latest blood tests done. Just curious what you would say about them, if you have the time? A few months ago I went up by 12.5mcg in an attempt to bring my TSH down to around 1 where I generally feel better. My weight is a lot better these days, my heart rate has finally calmed

Stage 4 Cirrhosis can be compensated?
My husband was diagnosed with Cirrhosis via liver biopsy. He is 65 years old. The liver specialist says the biopsy indicates Stage 4 cirrhosis. His fibrosis was also stage 4. But liver specialist also says his liver is compensated? How can this be? He has been prescribed lactulose, spirolactone

BUN/creatinine
I saw that my BUN level was low . At what stage of cirrhosis would cause a low BUN? And BUN/creatinine ratio? I’m hoping it’s just low from being well hydrated but I read liver cirrhosis can also be a cause and I had a few other numbers low or high.

hepatitis to cirrhosis
Is it possible for an alcoholic to progress to cirrhosis without ever having alcoholic hepatitis? What are the chances of someone who heavily drinks to get cirrhosis without warning signs before it gets to that point?

Turning things around
I just wanted to write to show other readers that you can turn things around. I wrote on here a couple of weeks ago venting frustration at the lack of communication regarding test results and finally got to see a consultant yesterday. I was admitted to hospital in May last year via A & E and was

Compensated or Decompensated
I was diagnosed in May 2019 with Cirrhosis and my Hepatologist told me it was Compensated and I would be monitored in the liver clinic every 6 months (the pandemic put paid to that plan). I've subsequently had two endoscopies which show six varices, one of which shows some evidence of past bleeding.

The New NAFLD/NASH guidance is out but how do we use it as patients? Here is an explanation and a suggestion from the Fatty Liver Foundation
The new guidance for managing NAFLD/NASH has been officially published. This is the official guidance by the American Association for the Study of Liver Disease (AASLD) and it is intended to provide primary care and other providers with the information they need to provide care for their patients.

Liver Ultrasound scan results.
I am trying to work out whether this is suggesting I have a
fatty
liver
? As I haven't heard from my Doctor about the results yet and I am a bit frightened as I am 27 and suffer from anxiety.

Vitamin D - daily dose?
when I was first diagnosed with PBC my Vit D levels were low so had a high dose supplement which brought levels up to normal range. Bone density scan was OK. With general vitamin supplement and cod liver oil in winter months I take 10 microg of Vit D. I would be interested to hear how much anyone else

Goitre and blood test
This is a bit of a long one - Thank you all in advance for your advice. So I have had a goitre for about 12 years - am not on medication and feel fine.. I have been aware it seems to have got bigger over the last few months and I do feel self-conscious about it. It does not affect breathing . I stayed

vegetarian diet that comprises plant lectins is related to a greater incidence of PD compared to a diet dominated by meat consumption
So if you Google "vegetarian risk Parkinson's" you will be flooded with articles saying that vegetarian is best for PD and that PD risk is lower for vegetarians. I am not disputing this. But... I was reading this very short paper: https://sci-hub.st/10.1016/S0016-5085(14)60326-7

BUT I know my physician will take me off it now because I was on it for a week twice a day and my

is caused by alcohol amongst other things so obviously I do not want to start messing about with diazepams.

missed diagnosis
hi all. I was diagnosed with Hep C in 2020 after being referred to specialist due to results of some routine blood tests. It’s most likely that it was a result of a blood transfusion in 1986. Following treatment I am now clear of the virus but sadly have developed cirrhosis. I have a life policy that
