Uncertainty of living with Cirrhosis
Hi Everyone. I'm so sorry to bother you all again, but I've had a very down day. I just thought I'd post a reply I sent to one of the lovely members of this group, with the hope that maybe someone could share with me and the rest of this lovely group how they cope with this condition. I wrote to him

Cirrhosis and very scared - please help!
Hi. I'm so glad I stumbled on this site and I'm hoping that someone could be kind enough to reach out to me? I'm so very, very scared, and it's all my own fault. I have suffered from an anxiety disorder for 15 - 20 years and used wine to cope....and lots of it. I was diagnosed with compensated cirrhosis

Decompensated cirrhosis of the liver
My husband was recently diagnosed with decompensated cirrhosis of the liver in April of 2024 after 2 weeks in the hospital. He was discharged with some medications. Since then he was readmitted in May for a week, and in June for a week. He has ascites and everything else that comes with the disease

Really good news
I just wanted to share my story in case it helps others. In December last year I had an ultrasound scan and the results were probable cirrhosis, portal vein hypertension and varices. There were also "suspicious lesions". Fast Forward to a biopsy I had last month (following over six months of abstinence

TACE procedure
Hello all, an update my husband has cirrhosis NAL and 2 tumours were found. He had the above procedure a few weeks ago and good news yesterday the procedure has been successful, no cancer lighting up. Now it’s regular CT/MRI. To all of you awaiting this procedure I truly hope you have this outcome

Finding my way
I am still new to Kidney issues and looking for some guidance. Post liver transplant in Sept 2022, i had CMV virus, but over the last year my kidney function is declining. I think it was about 22% this time last year, but is now 19%- and probably continuing to fall. I am being monitored, my next

Enlarged liver and spleen
I'm so sorry to bother everyone again, it's just that I have [yet another] question. My liver and spleen are enlarged as a result of my cirrhosis - by not drinking, exercising and eating cleanly, is there any chance of the liver and spleen shrinking back to close to the size they should be? Thank you

Varices
Hi Everyone. I cannot thank all of you enough for being such a supportive forum. Sometimes I need to read your positive posts to get through the day. I am going in next Friday for a gastroscopy. My specialist said it was urgent, and is already assuming that I will need banding. I just wanted to ask is

I do hope that I’ll be able to help others on this forum, even just with a few encouraging words. As a new member I do feel it’s welcoming and supportive. I was diagnosed with Ascites in Feb this year. The doctor sent me home with lactose (just explaining was for constipation) and an appointment was

Exercise
I was diagnosed with decompensated liver cirrhosis a few months ago. I came out of hospital about a month ago, from Ascites, jaundice and pneumonia. I am extremely upset by this and very scared. I have completely stopped drinking since my time in hospital. I could barely walk after leaving hospital

Elevated liver enzymes but no cause?
Hello, just wondering if anybody else has elevated liver enzymes but no cause found? ALT and AST have been raised for months but doctors can’t find a cause. I’ve had SO many tests, scans etc, and everything is normal? Yet they keep coming back raised. I take 1.25mg bisoprolol but doctors are certain

Luke’s Liver
Good evening all. Since January I have experienced liver issues which was initially thought to of been caused by a virus and assumed I’d make a full recovery despite my liver being inflamed and having highly elevated liver counts after a course of Steroids My levels did return to normal and I seemed

New and looking for some advice
Hello. I am trying to find some information for a family member. He took a break last August and left his job as long dustance HGV1 driver. 6 months later, went back to old job, lasted a week and his boss said, you're not well, sort your health issue out. So in March I took him to A&E and what we

Radio Frequency oral therapy for liver cancer
New FDA approved home therapy for liver growths; small antenna that is kept in the mouth for 1 hour daily. The science is radio frequencies that interact with cancer cells and keep them controlled.
