Curious if anyone experiences random liver area discomfort. Not pain, just a tender discomfort. Last usually 7 or so hours, then its good. Causes? PBC since 2020ish

Yes but usually after a food that my liver does not like or when I do to much. I use a warm hot water bottle to comfort myself.
I’ve been told that the mild discomfort happens if you have eaten something that’s not PBC friendly and it is your liver inflamed. So it’s a case of process of elimination working out what you’ve eaten that triggers it and switching it to something else.
Which were you diagnosed with first, the PBC or osteoporosis? I’ve got those two as well
I found that the 3rd Urso Forte daily was too much for my stomach 😫 I went to 3 every other day and 2 on the off days and I'm good. I do have to watch my carb intake, especially bread. Fried foods are off limits unless I'm willing to pay the price.
I also drink Lactose free milk and other dairy products.
I was diagnosed 15 years ago and have held my numbers well.
Since the PBC diagnosis I have developed other auto immune issues.
Sjogrens, Fibromyalgia, RA, and now a bew kidney/adrenal thing they are looking to diagnosis.
It's not uncommon for your immune system to do this. Please be diligent with listening to your body. It may seem unimportant but those of us who have a crazy immune system experience changes rapidly.
I had HCV 3a and treated in 2015. I was an F3 almost F4. I am in SVR and have been tested and I am virus free but still get the RUQ pain along with the under the right clavicle which is where referred pain from the liver presents. Upon my biopsy I was told I would have shoulder pain and they had to watch me for hours in case of bleeding. I remember the pain under my clavicle was BRUTAL. It still occurs as does my liver discomfort seemingly random but definitely if I have food or sugar. Diet actually has pretty amazing effects beneficial within a short period but the doctors really don’t tell you about that in my experience. Good luck. I hope you feel better
Hi! Discomfort, soreness, or often pain can occur in the liver area. Although the liver has no nerve endings of its own, it outer capsule does. This is affected by the mere presence of inflammation as a result of having PBC. I saw in the replies below that for some dietary changes help. We all benefit for learning what works for others. Often heat to the area can help.
Pain usually starts with inflammation. I have found that, when your body feels pain, double check your diet. Put anti-inflammatory foods first (green plants, colorful veggies and fruits, look these up) and then avoid foods that trigger inflammation, especially meats and dairy. Get enough omega-3, drink water, chill-out and meditate daily before you face the stress of the day and walk every day in the sunlight.
I have what feels like a stitch in my upper right quadrant area a great deal of the time. For me stress is a strong trigger for it to worsen. When I took a holiday for a few days in 2021 where I felt myself really rest and relax, I noticed by the end of it the stitch feeling had disappeared. I would say for me that stress is the strongest factor. I haven't noticed dietary factors influencing it particularly in my case but I have been eating a healthy, generally anti-inflammatory diet for a while now. I think keeping stress levels low can really help including the things others have mentioned above such as meditation, walking etc. Time in nature really helps me too.
