Endocarditis

Hello I'm a new member and would like to know if anyone has been through endocarditis with sepsis as I did 3 years ago.Once the treatment was completed I became very ill in the following 10 days and was admitted to hospital with a leaking aortic valve.

hi all i'm trying to find a good dentist in the South East London area that have experience with patients on Warfarin. i'm looking at getting some work done after after my endocarditis scare. Any recommendations is hugely appreciated.

They would have liked to fit a mechanical valve but because of the endocarditis it was too risky. A 5 week stay in Greece, air ambulance back to the UK, then 4 weeks in hospital here. I've been at home now a few weeks recovering slowly.

Hi Guys Ok, had my first valve replacement last July which was accompanied with my first case of Endo. My recovery has been incredible and I have never been as fit in my entire life until last Wednesday when I fell apart again with the usual symptoms, back in hospital and yes have Endo Part 2.

She also wrote "I’ve got an echocardiogram on the 18th as they want to rule out endocarditis - I’ve now been treated for sepsis three times in three years and there is a possibility that bacteria has seeded in my body" I think that she needs to actively try to build up her immune system.

Back in April last year, i collapsed due to infective Endocarditis which resulted to a Mitral valve repair. I later had to have a full mechanical replacement of the Mitral and Aortic valve 4 months later.

After 4 days of culturing his blood, they found the bacterium, Granulicatella aviacens, which had infected the discs of his spine (discitis) and also the mitral valve of his heart --endocarditis, and they are still checking the cause of hip pain.

It's been 7 years and I was in hospital with double pneumonia and endocarditis and acute kidney failure and sepsis. While I was in hospital I got told my son of 18 had committed suicide. So I was in a coma for 2-5weeks still don't know.

In November 2023 I found out I had endocarditis. As a result I had surgery to repair my mitral valve. At the time it was successful and I was recovering well.

He needs the old valve removing and a new one putting in after damage caused by endocarditis. I would like to talk about some of the symptoms he is experiencing and how to cope and deal with it. It would be good to know there are people who understand what we are going through. Thanks Izzy.

My last open heart surgery was in 2005, I had two that year due to endocarditis. I had an aortic aneurysm and my aortic valve was replaced with a titanium st judes valve. Replaced again a few months later due to endocarditis. I've been taking Coumadin and now warfarin for 18 years.

I had severe stenosis as the homograft valve I had in me for 31 years caused me to get endocarditis. The op was torrential as the valve was in a bad way but I survived. Before this I had been unwell for approx 2 years with cardiac symptoms.

I wondered if anyone knows if it is safe for people with PV to have the more invasive dental implant than have a bridge fitted thinking of the risk of bacterial endocarditis? Thank you

One of the biggest risks is always infection, more so for someone who's had Endocarditis, so when the blood results came back with the C-Reactive Protein (CRP) raised it just rubber stamped that it was a non-starter for Tuesday's op, so it's now delayed until mid-February.

Hi all, Had a pretty tricky last few months, was diagnosed with endocarditis at the start of November (had been feeling ill for a few weeks before), the infection responded well to IV antibiotics over a 6 week period so that was a positive.

I have just recently (April this year) had my 4th open heart surgery to replace my mitral valve due to endocarditis. The recovery is long but I am doing well and have been back at work for 2 months now. Recently I have been having dreams which are more like flashbacks to when I was in hospital.

When I had endocarditis he disbelieved I was ill for those 8 weeks too. I forgave him, but he couldn't cope with me talking about the trauma or cope with the guilt, took it out on me, became abusive and we split two years later.
